Very iconic car, the old Sejnost/Fronty, made famous earlier in the decade by Herman Schurch and Billy Winn on the Eastern bullrings. The last really successful Fronty, by 1935 it was no longer competitive in frontline racing, but Ted won lots of Central Pennsy races with it and was leading the 1936 Championship by a long way, only to be stripped of his points due to competing with the AAA. Earlier, Winn had won the 1933 and '34 Hankinson Circuit Championships mostly with this car.

I'm not going to identify all of them, but the last pic appears to show the leaders in the main event: Johnnie Wood, Clay Robbins, Billy Cantrell and Allen Heath on the inside, with Jim Steele (I think) trying to go around the outside. Has to be the CRA opener; Robbins won, Wood second with Steele third.

 

Almost done with these smaller long range shots some bigger shots in the future.

Regarding the Sumar streamliner. I believe an earlier poster said the "fenders" were removed at the request of the driver. I was under the impression that USAC/ The Speedway ordered the removal and that Daywalt was Ok with them.

Can someone clarify for me. Thanks

 

I believe that car belonged to Don Thomas from El Cajon. It has a Buick engine set at a slight angle running from right to left referenced from the driver's seat. I remember Don with the car at Perris during the salute to Ascot one year. Can anyone else confirm it? There can't be a fleet of cars looking that different out there.
