Wondering if you're planning to tuck the ends of the bumper into the 1/4's.

 

I'm likin' your work and skills. While customs aren't the choice for my own ride I'm enjoying watching you with yours.

That splash apron really flows well with the body and bumper. Have you considered losing the bumper guards? To me they clutter up the otherwise super clean rear. Just my $0.02. Not a criticism.

I've considered it. I hate bumper gaurds on every custom, but for some reason I love these ones. I think they accent the taillights nicely.

 

I am going to do something to the ends on the quarters.

So I'm sitting in my office chair and compared my knee height to yours in the photo. Grabbing a tape measure and looking at 19" is crazy that's the height of that car.

 

I see youre up in my hood slinging ink now. Cant wait to see more progress on this car. Really coming together

 

Ya it is pretty crazy! When its not on wheel dollies, it comes up to my shin. The door tops will be a little taller lol

Really, really hard to get a photo of this... But I started to make and shape the bottom panels. Makes me wonder why I'd spend so much time hand shaping and radiusing the sheet metal, when it's on the bottom and no one will EVER see it... Because it would drive me crazy if I didn't do it the best I could.

Incredibly hard to get a photo under the splash pan, but I got most of the bottom made, trimmed, and tacked in place. So so so much work in this area... Never to be seen when the bumper is on.

 

Been following and enjoying this build. Great job. It's worth it cause sometimes it's these details that make a high quality ride

When i do this works thats not be seen when finnish i take that as a good practice for more visible parts.

 

Great build I know I missed alot trying to browse through 24 pages but I'm liking what I see. Fast progress as well. Look forward to seeing more.

 

Like your notes on the trunklid...whiteboard style..great way to keep focused.....enjoying the build...

 

You know on the upside when you get ready to paint you'll have about half as much car to prep as when you started! Might want to build a platform for it however. I can't imagine laying on the ground to wet sand being any fun.

Hell I can't imagine laying on the floor to weld that splash pan being any fun either but your making it look good!

 

Nice job on the sectioning, and I love the fins. Good motivation for me to finish my sectioned Wayfarer!

 

So I worked a little on the splash pan. I welded a ton, I ground a ton... I got most of the trunk lid area done. Still need to work on the corners and front edge. But its coming out pretty nice. I'll keep you posted as I finish more. I'm also very excited to have gotten a new tool today that could help me!! but I have no idea how to use it... Yet. It's from harbor freight... I know. But if anyone could give me tips on what to do, how to tune it so it's straight, or even if I need to do anything tho make it a better english wheel? Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Judging from your previous work, I predict you will become an expert with the english wheel in short order.

 

Cool! Only advice I have is read as much as you can and watch some YouTube videos. You'll figure it out it's all moving metal

New advice: watch your thumbs

 

I don't have experience with the HF english wheel, but I have heard that the wheels are kinda soft. Obviously, you can upgrade wheels later on when you have more experience, but if they are soft, make sure you keep all the metal you run through it super clean so you don't make marks in the wheels that will transfer to your metal.
Don't be afraid to make some scrap metal to get the hang of things. Good luck, and most importantly, have fun.
