So on my roadster I am building I have the rear end where it needs to sit. That is with the frame almost level..little lower in the front. The rear cross member i have tilted back 3 degrees. The front member i have tilted it back 7 degrees. But between the frame and front cross member i have a ugly gap to fill on top now. I figure with the members in the correct angle the spring wont bind. Or do i make the member flush with the frame....which may bind my spring a bit when i tilt my axel 5 to 7 deg back. I guess I'm not understanding what's going on here. I thought the Model A front crossmember already had the proper tilt built into it.

I think Late to the Party is right, the crossmember has a built in angle. The crossmember is set in the stock frame straight and the front axle has the proper angle.

Lay, Mr. K...an angle finder on the center of the member. You will see that there is already a 'manufactured twist', amounting to 7 degrees positive MORE than the 'flats' where it joins onto the frame. (looks like you have more at the center now, like 12... just a guess. But bear in mind one thing: Any frame 'rake' you end up with must be subtracted from the caster in the front member. Uhh...That'd be 7 degrees from LEVEL, and that is level with Terra Firma, that being the ground.

Are you measuring at the ends of the crossmember, or where the spring mounts to? Should measure the angle where the spring mounts.

Did you end up just welding it in? My first thought would be this would really throw off your radiator angle, thus your hood length and gaps. I didn't do anything to the crossmember in my car and I am running 5 degrees of positive caster on my front axle
No i just have things tacked. Im going to get the top flush with frame. Then re tack. I did know it had 5 deg built into it. But frame goes 1.5 degrees down to the front. So maybe a small adjustment might be needed Sent from my LGUS991 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
