  2. ^ Anyone know the whereabouts of that car? I know Sprout was asking a few years ago....

I have heard that is in Missouri somewhere. Seems like it hasn't been seen since those photos!

  3. Found this about from Abone (2005):
"That car spent some time in my home town of St. Joseph, Missouri. Changed owners a few times..ended up in the hands of some bozo who did not appriciate or deserve it.

Fortunately, karma came around and he had to sell it to finance some legal fees....

By pure coincidence, I happened to talk to the next owner. (He almost bought my 57 Olds.) I cannot recall his name, but he is the owner of a tattoo shop in Kewanee, Illinois. The shop was called Ink Addiction, or Skin and Bone, or Flesh and Blood or some thing like that....Hmmm...I THINK it was Flesh and Blood, but don't hold me to it.

Good for you, Kewanne is only about 15,000 population, bad for you, this was about 8 years ago...

The guy was very friendly and good to talk to, so if you can track him down I'm sure he would help you out. Hell, he may still have the car, you never know.

    Good luck, -Abone."

  6. I always liked this car. Reminds me of the early days of Custom Rodder (the Custom Rodder that was printed from the early 90s to the mid 2000s). Seemed that car was used in a lot of how-to articles, as well as making appearances in the magazine's coverage of events like Paso.
Cool that Elden Titus chopped it. Another great guy that left us way too soon..........

There was one of these in our local wrecking yard just a few weeks ago. My friend's 16 year old son just couldn't get enough of it. He said if the car was lowered, customized and 'flaked it would look like a metalflaked submarine. We got a great chuckle out of that one. Kids can be a lot of fun..........E

StrayKat, is that a 'rebuild of a rebuild' as I'm sure I remember it from previous times.

  13. Every once in a while I feel the need to hit the "like" button more than once for a real nice custom - then again, I feel like "liking" all but one or two in a collection of photos because it/they don't particularly appeal to me... 'tho that doesn't happen too often! Anyway, great choices fellas.. great thread idea!

Please tell me more... would love to find out more. I did an ARTICLE on this car for the guy who bought it in 1954. He sadly passed away this summer. But I still would love to know more.

  17. @Okie Pete are you talking about THAT particular car?

Sorry to disappoint you guys . Its the body style . It belongs to a family friend . Ive heard about the car off and on for several years now. This spring I asked if I could see the car and I got to . Its a 47 Merc convert the hood wont open which is a good thing because things have been disappearing out of the shed where it sits and the two lower grill inserts have been taken . It has a 48 Merc front clip due to a wreck in 58 . Colombia rear axle , aluminum heads and intake , 3 speed trans , fender skirts . I tried to take pictures but my phone battery up and died when I got there . So I took it as a sign no pictures . I've ask about buying it got the well you know we still might fix it up someday .

They're on Kustomrama (not sure if that's where straykatkustoms got them from).

This Chevy sits dead center between Bill Hoffman's hard-topped '53 and Duane Steck's "Moonglow"!
