Event Coverage Bakersfield Hot Rod Reunion

Going Friday for the first time ever, is that a good day for it? Also, heard there is a cruise that night, where is it at? Looking forward to the show.

 

The reception Friday night is a DONT MISS IT event, held at the Doubletree hotel on Rosedale just off highway 99.

Apparently new location for official ceremonies is at Famoso.
But it's the actual gathering of hot rods at the Doubletree that should not be missed.
Schedule shows @7:30 for the reunion party but cars will start showing up late afternoon.

 

I'd be at the Doubletree by mid afternoon if you want a parking space...It gets packed long before 7:30

 

great event - you need to be there for all of it - this weekend - Oct 21 through 23

 

We're flying from the UK for this event - its a bucket-list thing for me!!! Can't wait.

 

Bring your best walking shoes and be prepared to be blown away.

 

You can car cruise anytime anywhere, save it! The thing to do at CHRR is check out the historic Front engine dragsters and Alterd's. Be everywhere in the pits when they light off one of them on fuel, and don't cover yer ears. Shake hands with anyone and everyone thats been a part of Drag raceing since you can remember. Hell, since I can remember too. Well, Thats what I do Nitro Brother, sensory overload.

Friday is my favorite day. Smaller crowds, swap meet stuff hasn't been picked over yet, guys are troubleshooting their cars. I cant go this year; Willys needs new freeze plugs in the hemi block that I haven't had time to fix, have a Fisher Body Craftsman's Guild reunion I can't attend in Pasadena, and am at a week long church convention that trumps all the rest of the events.

 

We'll be there for our first time from Buffalo NY, with the original Ron Bizio AA/GS 1933 Willy's pickup. Can't wait! The car is an original California gasser built by Chuck finders in the 60's. Stop by and say hello!

 

Lots of racers & swap meet guys here today. Already doing cackle fest warm ups.

I'll post some pics tomorrow when I get there! Right now I'm spending the night in Chicago... flights delayed for me... The car is at the track currently with my dad, but not me, sometimes work gets in the way of fun, so I had to fly out tonight instead of make the weeks trip! Haha

 

My buddy Darrell Conrad is going to have his Funny Car there Veney,s Vega . He has been restoring it to how it was raced by Veney . Over 25yrs of work

 

Looks like the NHRA is F-ing it up already......

 

Leave it up to the NHRA to pull this BS........

 

Great event. The ring of Fire was absolutely incredible. Loved the whole event.
