hi new member trying to find members that have used spi epoxy primer . like to know what they think about it vs other epoxy primers like ppg dplf or cromax going to prime 55 chevy after dustless blasting . trying to do it right and do not want any problems later.

  2. I have not used it, but will use it. Always heard great things about their products and while at the LA roadster show last June, I had a chance to talk with their rep. Answered all questions about the primer. They gave me a detailed instruction booklet about the product, prep and application.

GREAT Epoxy. You can't get any better support and customer service on Earth than what
Barry provides. All of their products are TOP shelf for 40% less than the Big Guys.

    Happy spraying,
    VR&C.

I tried the black SPI epoxy on my sand blasted 26T. It has been on there 2+ years now. It has stood up great. Goes on easy. One real good point is that it sands much easier than the dp90lf I used to use. I epoxy'ed it right after sand blasting. The spi epoxy has kind of a sheen to it. You can use it as kind of a guide coat because the low spots will have that sheen to it, assuming you're using a board. After body work, I gave it another over all coat. IIRC I had about $120 in .5 gallon total of DP. I had $175 in 2 gallons total of SPI. I highly recommend SPI over the DP stuff. Price and performance.

  7. I've been using it about 11-12 years. Great products.

Never used that one. I like the Nason line. Used that on my coupe and it turned out well. There is a great thread called 'the difference in primers' (I think). There is lots of great information about all primers in that one.

  18. Here's the link to the article Binger mentioned.

More required reading... for me anyway.

Thanks for posting that link. I don't know how to post a link off of my phone and was not near a computer.
