I see that this A/FX car is going to auction. It has been through a few owners in its time. I know back in the day these cars were modified heavily to keep up with the competition, makes me wonder how much of this car is original as delivered in '64.
I noticed that he hood is not lift off which seems strange. The bubble hood was on the cars when they were first raced, soon after the factory distributed the dual scoop hoods to the owners. (The hoods were made by Plaza glass in Canada)

I saw the car at Byron, your '64 and the '64 Fairlane were my favorites. It's great to see some Ford power at these events!

The 64 Fairlane in one of the photos belongs to a great guy (George Adams from Arnold, MO). He races with the AA Automotive Team out of the St. Louis area. He and I have sort of a standing grudge whenever we can get together. Forgot to post this photo of me against my son (Randy Ahland) in his red Galaxie. Look at the engine shot from the drivers side. Something definitely strange about the intake manifold the runners look rectangular?

Zeph4057k, I wish Dennis would bring it to Woodward or Milan. Would love to see that beautiful car again! Can't wait to see what you do with your '65! I thought I saw your Willy's at Milan for the Nostalgia Drags?

Yes something looks wrong. Could it be an adapter to mate a FE with an intake from another engine? I am not a big block guy so this is just a guess.

I can't remember the guy's name but he made an FE to Cleveland intake adapter to eliminate disassembling the valvetrain. I never saw the finished product but this may be the answer to the intake question. Maybe.

He was offering them for sale and I had my name on the waiting list but in the end I elected to stay with my 4bbl intake.

  29. For those of you who knew him, Roy Pool aka 65COMET, passed away. Roy helped me build and design my racecar, forced me to put a 4 speed in it (lol) , taught me drive it and lent me his trailer every race to tow it. Roy definitely could have an ornery streak, but he was a great and devoted comet guy, father and friend. He will be missed.[IMG]
