It all started from my father's trailer. It was his father's before that, well it had a 35-36 rearend under it. I then swapped some wheels and tires plus cash for a model a frame. I wanted a coupe but I found a roadster cowl on Craigslist. That was 3 years ago, since then I have bought, swapped, and made a bunch of stuff to get where I am today. 1475967191147.jpg 1475967214328.jpg 1475967232262.jpg 1475967309072.jpg

It seems all my pics will be sideways, kinda like me. . . I am cheap too, I can't afford to buy a $350.00 inner door skin so I made one. It took me about 12 hours but I enjoyed most of it. The drivers inner skin was a $60.00 swap meet score 1475967576923.jpg 1475967590600.jpg 1475967606291.jpg

Looks amazing my man! I ... Like you am cheap ... I also enjoy resurecting other folks cast offs.

Keep it up... You'll be driving that bad Larry before you know it.

The bullet is a 39 truck 239ci, it needs rings and bearings. I am going to stab a lumpy cam in it, then put two 94s, and make headers. The trans is a 39 w/syncros. I will run wide fives with juice brakes. Most of my parts came from local HAMBers. The frame, engine, front axle, and many other pieces are from Mike Bowling, cowl and sheet metal parts from 54caddy, quarters from Pete, wheels from Tony Martino.

The plan: this thing needs work from front to back. First thing is to get the body together. This was never a car, just a bunch of pieces I have collected so. . . The rear subrails need to be fabbed up so I can attach the quarters. Then I can align all the parts (hopefully )

Threads like this are my favorites. They give hope to the guy that has more than you did, but can't see the light at the end of the tunnel. Keep at it, man.

I've been watching Ron piece this car together for a while now, and his positive attitude and willingness to work with some pretty rough parts is really inspirational.
Swapping parts, working deals, scrounging around Flea Markets and making what you can't find ( or afford) are my idea of old fashioned hot rodding.
    Keep up the good work!!

Yeah looks awesome bro. I love seeing New Englanders fighting the good fight and welding stuff together till they've got a car.

  17. I love it too, I like the "I'm gonna do it myself, like it or not" attitude. Right on. As soon as I can scrounge some stuff together I'm gonna build an A exactly this way.

Just keep it out of the Merrimack Rivah.

Today was raining so I went to the Kingpins show anyway. When I got home I jumped into the hideout. I have very crispy subrails so I cut out the old and fabbed up a few pieces and welded them in. Rear subrails ends were thin so they got a tune-up and test fit. More tmrw 1476057012648.jpg 1476057022695.jpg 1476057028016.jpg 1476057041509.jpg 1476057046695.jpg

Look how much room you've got between your knees and the steering wheel- you're all set!!
(and you can always let Mo drive and be in charge of the cooler)
    Lookin' good, my friend.

1476227602594.jpg I am looking for where the quarter panel brace lands on the subrail on a 28-29roadster. Can someone please post a pic so I can put mine in the right spot? Thanx,Ron

Last winter I fabbed up what I believe was the hardest part of this project. The brake and clutch pedal assembly and the steering box and column. The x-member is 2.5inch channel from the scrap bin at the power plant. Pedals and shafts are model a. The steering set up is from a 53 or 54 f100 truck from the junkyard 1476656518806.jpg 1476656548889.jpg 1476656565926.jpg
