Well, got the 283 back from the machine shop last week, and been re-assembling it this week. It's a 60 chevy 283 power-pack that was bored .040 over, heads gone through with new guides, valves ect. The cam is just above a 327-300hp cam. Edelebrock c-26 intake with 2 rare carter afb's 400cfm,#9400-S. Will be doing the swap soon, will post pics as things progress.
motor looks great! two carter 9400's.... a few years back i was looking for a 9400 and couldn't find one at a reasonable price
Nice looking engine.....for a Chebbie. I'm doing a motor swap on a 47 too.....a Lincoln Zephyr, but I'm taking out a Chebbie and putting a real engine in it's place, a 302 FORD!!!!!
Great looking motor! I haven't seen a pvc fitting in the rear of the block like that. Obviously an early sbc feature? Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I found these on e-bay, I found the pair for $200 in very nice cond. Bought 2 kits from Carbking on the HAMB here, and rebuilt them. Should work out well. Thanks.
Here are some progress pic from this week Pulled the flatty this week, and installed the 283. All went pretty good. Have to raise the battery box, was hitting the exhaust manifold. Will raise it about 3". Someone needs this flatty!
I am asking $2800, lowered the price last week. Its listed on the hamb, in parts for sale. Located about 45 miles north of Chicago.
Should work out well. Just remember when shifting the old saying "Be careful, the transmission you save may be your own!" I started out as a 14 year old kid rebuilding flathead transmissions that couldn't handle hopped up flatheads. Overheads could really shred them! Just shift easy and things usually go well.
Well, been working on the 46, hot-wired it to get it running and it really runs good. Runs cool, no leaks. Now I am working on the 12volt change over. I fabricated my own exhaust system using 2 1/4" with porter mufflers. Just thought I would share. Thanks.
