Waiting for more pictures. Did you check out spray booths yet? Isosinate poisoning is not something to mess with. Your body absorbs it and does not get rid of it, so it accumulate till you are sensitive to it and all you need is a whiff of it to set you off. Fresh air hood is the only way to go, they also have a portable one that has a filter and battery pack so it makes the mask positive pressure. Frank
Yeah I've looked at a few used semi-down draft booths but there all dirty an almost the same price of a new one so im just going to buy new. Id like to get breathable air in the booth when the time comes. Updates coming this week! Sent from my LG-MS870 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Ok sorry for the delay but I finally have a few minutes to update my thread! So I haven't worked on my truck as much as I would like but after I started feeling better I hit the ground running trying to get caught up at work, business has been good so naturally I've been working on other cars rather than my own. So far I have got everything cut n buffed and currently reassembling the truck. I really wanted to document the color sanding and buffing portion but due to being so busy I didn't take a lot of pictures. If you have any questions about buffing feel free to ask.
So buffing to me is a big equalizer if you know how to cut and buff you can make shit paint jobs with cheap clear look pretty good, I always thought to myself I'm not a good painter I'm just a good buffer. Just a quick run down of the process I start with 1200 grit cut the orange peel down either with a block or DA in this case I used a DA first then a block. After that I use 3M Trizac 3000 grit on the DA on black I like to take it one step further an use 5000 after the 3000. Now with the 3000 on the DA After the 3000 you'll start to notice the shine coming back. Now after 5000
I didn't get any pictures of the buffing stage but I use all 3M products with the exception of Wizards cutting compound. With buffing you have 3-4 stages Step 1 : cutting compound with a wool pad or cutting foam pad. Step 2: black compound with black foam pad. Step 3: blue finishing compound/ machine glaze wit blue pad. Step 4 (for black or darker colors) swirl/ hologram remover. Here are a few pictures after buffing.
rob bob.... It's been worth the wait! You are doing a fine job, I have waited (i'm sure like many others) with great anticipation! Thank you for your updates. I hope your health is good and the salt gave you MotorVation! Cheers
Thanks, I both love and hate black I'm just glad the polishing is over. Sent from my LG-MS870 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app

Love this thread .....that is gonna be one sweet little truck. I don't get to spend much time on here but I'm sitting at home recovering from knee surgery and reading these types of threads is helping the days go by so much easier..looking forward to future updates.
Just a little update to keep everyone on the edge of your seat. It's starting to come together nicely!
Hey rob is the pedal assembly a kit or did you hand make them also what year master is that from? John
Its a kit I got from RJays speed shop, kit includes the early 60s chevy truck master cylder. Sent from my LG-MS870 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Nothing crazy just a little update slowly getting everything back together. I got all the sound deadener installed in the cab everything is tight and insulated well, seats back in and most of the wiring is done. Just a few more little things to finish up and it's off for glass and a full interior.
One of the thing I wanted on the interior was aluminum kick panels with a tan diamond stitch insert (the same color as the seat) as many of you 32-34 truck owners on the hamb may already know there's not much foot room in these trucks. The way I made the kick panel on the drivers side maximizes room and allowed me to still have the accent of raw metal in the cab. I'm also working out a way to mount my anti-theft device.
I've got the tank mounted, tailgate back on and nerf bar in place I really love the flat finish of the stainless in contrast to the black gives it a cool old hot rod feel. Lastly I have been experimenting with the wheel treatment and I like the look of just the centers so far but that could change. View attachment 3370414
