In '47 GM introduced the "advanced design" truck line. You dont see a lot of them here on the board so here is your opportunity to show off your portly haulers. I'll start with a shot from our shop this morning. Sent from my SM-G920T using The H.A.M.B. mobile app

Here's 2 '54s earlier this summer - Earl's in prime & my ol' Navy buddy Nick's in '55 Cad Persian Green. The green one is a Hydra-Matic & goes everywhere ...

Ol' Green sat in the back yard after being turn down for rebuild which never was completed. The five window is pictured on its way to Australia. Five window AD's are rare there.
This one is sitting in a garage in Ventura, Ca. and is for sale. It appears on Ventura Craigs list periodically.
AD's used to be very popular on here. Thjis is my Dad's 5 window. Grandpa bought it when it was a few years old for farm duty and it was parked in the late sixties. Dad has plans to start on it this winter (he's said that the past 4 winters in a row haha)
My 1948 truck. I have owned it for at least 28 years. I traded a Vixen File and an old Sioux body grinder for the original cab and chassis. It has been down many roads. I have raced it at MOKAN the last 16 years and it is always driven to the track and driven home. It was built with what I had readily available and it has endured with only a camshaft replacement. My 50 build in the early 90's. M2 and a 350. Drove it for 14 yrs. haven't seen it since it went to Florida.
Love these trucks--My folks had 5 or 6 on the ranch at all times in the late 50's early 60's. We had a kinda nice one with a Jimmy in it that ran pretty good. Later a friend had one (61-62) witha 283 ,glide and pass car rear that went down the highway very well-we went everywhere in that one.

I remember a time when no one really wanted these trucks it seemed (around here anyway) in the 80s and early 90s as much as they did a second series 55 through 59, That was the ones that was more popular, however Im not sure that hasnt flip flopped these days and these old trucks have taken the lead in popularity, I will admit I liked the 55 up ones better, then, also but these have also grown on me more since and I even owned a 52 a few years ago.
Chevrolet versions are called Advanced Design or AD for short. The GMCs (jimmys) are called New Design or ND for short.
One day I'm going to have me an AD short-bed pickup. Yeah yeah - I can hear you all saying "one day........!!!"
