Looks like some "Not OK" cars in there!

 

This picture brings back memories of my Aunt taking us to the first McDonalds restaurant in our neighborhood in her '54 Ford wagon with the rear facing back seat! I think the fries were 15 cents, the burger 20 cents, and the shakes 25 cents. We would show off to the drivers behind us by demonstrating how lip-smackin' good our glorious eats were!
Ah, to be a kid again...

 

Chevbucket..Where in Victoria is this. I don't recognize it. Is it near the old Empress motors? And do you know the dealer?

Parked the cars on the roof?.... Well Duh !

 

This dealership was Wilson Motors....

I started my apprenticeship in that building and had heard about the infamous roof cave in. The dealership was known as Morrison Chev Olds Cadillac by then. Thank you very much for posting the pictures. Do you have any more information?

 

BTW, they went right back to using the roof for parking cars. Had to, downtown location and parking space was at a premium. Even so I had to make many trips back and forth to an offsite storage lot.

 

With a straight six it's more likely to be a Maserati. Possibly a 250F.

 

Chevy fans here is a road test of the first 409's. the guy loved them LOL.

My buddy had one but a 348 with trips it was the fastest car in town and he had his steering wheel tilted to see the tach too. He was the fastest until the local rich daddy kid got a nice new 1962 dual quad 409.

You are correct. It is a Meteor. However, Meteor = Ford; Monarch = Mercury.

 

I've pulled and installed most engines with a come-a-long but by bracing a rafter in my garage with two post shores.

 

My dad ordered a brand new '61 Bubble top
Bel Air in Dec '60. Super Turbo Thrust 348, 3x2, 4 spd. Heat and radio delete, bench and rubber mat floor. Oh and no mufflers. Picked it up with my grandparents on Christmas Eve. When they started it my grandmother thought there was something wrong with it but my dad and grandfather just smiled.

growing up we had a swing set my grand father made, that was heavier than the one in the photo. it was used to pull engines all the time.

 

So how in the hell did "Heaney" get those cars over the power lines???

 

i am guessing he just set them down near the door.

 

When I was a teenager I built an "A" frame using an unusually heavy duty swing set top section and eight Chevy torque tubes for legs. I cut the castings off the torque tubes at the wrecking yard with their torch, then made them a slip fit so 2 fit together to make one leg. Putting it up looked impossible to everybody but I could do it alone. All 105 lbs of me. So how did I do it ? Easy, I put legs on one long side , then lifted it as high as I could and held it up with what ever. I then tied a rope from my car to the top of the "A" and eased it up just far enough to enable the other legs to be inserted. Took about 15 minutes.

 

Good question.
If his boom hit some high voltage wires it would blow the tires right off that crane and arc to the ground and fry all those observers
