Projects New toy. 62 Buick Invicta wagon

Just traded for this 62 Invicta wagon. Floors have already been replaced. Has engine and trans from 66 Riviera (which I believe is a 425) with new dual exhaust. I'm working on getting it on the road now. It runs but needs a few things. I've already ordered a new water pump and alternator for it plus a few other small things (belts, hoses, thermostat etc.) I'm also rebuilding the brake MC. I may upgrade the brakes later. I'm having trouble finding a few pieces. I need a gas tank, front bench seat (grey preferably), the stainless trim under front lip of hood, and the little piece that goes between the front and back door down by the rocker on the passenger side (fills the triangle shaped gap). I carved the shift knob myself. Thanks for looking. I can't wait to get it on the road.

Gonna drive it as much as I can. The gas mileage isn't optimal for the 1.5 hour one way trip to work but I'm definitely gonna tool around town in it as much as possible. 40standard

Cool wagon, I had one a couple of years back. Still got a couple of parts left over but not the ones you listed. Think I've got one side of the grille, a gauge cluster and some other bits and pieces. If you want them PM me your address and you can have them for the cost of shipping.

did you try Owens auto wrecking in the Hamb o dex.....?

 

That little triangle should be on any 4 door (sedan) I would think. Maybe most any 62-64 GM.

Drum brakes are so fun..... The 61 caps that came with the car cleaned up quite nicely. I like them better than the 62 caps anyway

Cruddy brake parts

Hard to see the new lines among all the crust

Had to take apart the dash to vacuum out about 80 pounds if acorns, dog food, and rats nests. Now to do damage control on the chewed up wiring harness..

Back on the ground after fixing the brakes. Next to put the water pump on

Putted around the parking lot today. Still has some carb and vacuum issues. My 62 lenses were in bad shape so I put these 61 taillights on. I like them better.

So I know the radiator has a leak but it is not bad enough that I can't top off the radiator and mess with the engine or drive around a little bit. I was going to put some stop leak in the radiator but when I removed the cap after I parked it and it cool a bit I noticed white foam. I don't think it's a head gasket as I just changed the oil and didn't see any water in the old oil (it had be driven a bit before the change) my question is. Would the leak in the radiator let enough air in to cause it to foam or should I still consider a head gasket even though there was no water in the oil? (Running straight water right now so no antifreeze in system)

I would drain and flush radiator and fill with straight water. Rerun and see what you have.

Drove ten miles to gas station and filled up. Was heading back and it sputtered out and quit on me. Still getting gas. Doesn't sound like its getting fire. I've heard points and condenser as possible options. Can they fail suddenly like that? Timing chain is also an option (I'm hoping not)

Loving the wagon. we have a ton of fun in our 61 chevy wagon just got back from Bowling Green this past weekend.
Could be points condenser or coil.
