I haven't had a chance to go to the shop to measure but in this photo you can see there's probably a good 2"-3" of space.

One more from today. More BS work. Too hot outside. Better engine pics on the previous page.

Got a sneak peek at the painted body. So happy with it. The shade of brown is perfect. Unfortunately it's a awful picture because of the lighting but there will be plenty more. It's hard to photograph this color. Especially with a phone.

Very nice... Are you leaving it solid color or painting the beltline reveals? I'm wondering how they would look black? Looking forward to seeing this one finished.

    Hahaha neither

Thanks a lot! It'll be solid brown. I'd like to add a really thin stripe along the body line to contrast the brown but I'll wait until the car is fully assembled before I make a decision on that color.

That's about as accurate of a name for the color as I can come up with. Even though it's ACTUALLY a UPS truck paint code that turns out to be a Chrysler paint code. My local paint shop found out that ups trucks use P18C. Supposedly. And that cross referenced as a Chrysler color. Not sure what year though. We mixed that up and out in the sun it looked slightly green so we tinted it more towards brown. So it's slightly custom. I guess.

Oh I know I saw that. The shade of brown on my car is much darker actually.

I like how you snuck in that front panhard bar. I'd like to see the details on that.

Yeah I think it should be helpful. Can't hurt to have it I know that. It's just a bar with heim joints on both ends. One end bolts to the passenger side batwing and the other bolts to a tab below the front crossmember on the frame. I can take better pics of it Wednesday night for ya.

Huge day for us today. Got the motor started for the first time. Absolutely in love with the sound of this engine. Only thing we really did to this engine was add the comp cam, weiand intake, and Geardrive headers. It sounds like there's a lot more done to this motor while listening to it run in person than there really is. I was trying to run a small denso alternator down next to the fuel pump. We made the correct brackets for it and looked great, but I couldn't keep the belt from hitting lower radiator hose where it connected to the water pump without spacing out the crankshaft and water pump pulleys. So I bit the bullet and bought a powergen and used a stock gm generator bracket that mounts off of the header bolts. Got the bracket and belt off of an old 57 Chevy wagon we used to have and it worked perfect. I ended up buying some delco remy tags to put on the powergen to backdate it a little more. All in all I'm glad we went this route instead of the denso alt. Really ties together the original SBC look I'm trying to pull off. Here are a few pics of the engine and hopefully a video of the engine running. Still needs to be tuned and timed a little more but it sure sounds good.

Sounds good! Is that with baffles or without?
