Got the left side about 50% ready. Then took the time to layout and paint the front scallops on the right side. Hope to have the body all in primer Saturday. Also got the radio wired.
Looking good. A little eye candy for inspiration...Jerry Koller's '55, painted in the fifties by Watson. (Kustomrama.)
A couple of wacks with a body hammer will fix those tail lights Besides that, every thing is looking good..
Cold but pretty day. So I got her out for some fresh air. Been too chilly here this weekend so no progress. Supposed to be warmer this week.
First pic is the day we brought it home. March 7. Second is this last weekend. Not too bad for 2 months
took it out for it's first run Sunday. Went over to my friend's house to show it to him, the drive over was great. The drive home I got on it and the throttle stuck (which we were warned about, it has a home made adapter under the carb) pulled into my driveway... and a freeze plug let go. Still a great trip
Finished? The scallops tonight while I was waiting for the son to come over and climb under the car to replace the freeze out plug.
got to spend about 15 minutes with degreaser and a hose last night.. Now not so embarased to put up the hood
spent a little time in the garage tonight.. Got a lot of cleaning done. going to try to drive it tomorrow night up to the cruise spot. As I locked up the garage I couldn't help take a pic from floor level then played with it to make it look old.
What color is yours? Also I am curious how original is yours? I have a '56 that I am in the planning stages of restoration. Problem for me is trying to find out the proper color of some parts.
were you asking about the color of mine.. the yellow and white are factory colors. It is now gray prime with flat white scallops.. eventually it will be pearl white with pear yellow ghost scallops
I was asking 38fordpickup, he said that he has a 55 Town Sedan that his parents bought new. I have a '56 Town Sedan that my grandfather bought new that I am planning on restoring. Some information I found but some I just couldn't find. Ive heard some say the heater plenum boxes under the hood and under the dash are supposed to be black crinkle finish but mine under the hood is like a cardboard like plastic and is smooth. the one under the hood is metal and heavily rusted. That is just one of the problems I have ran into on deciding what each item was colored originally.
Tiki - Really nice transformation. When I started reading this thread I was hoping the yellow paint wasn't coming back!
took the car to it's first car show. and actually got a trophy.. and I think my 19 month old grandson likes the car
