Anyone else building old dodge/plymouth other mopars?

My two Mopars. 48 Plymouth & 34 Dodge

 

One of these days I'll start working on my 46 wc , just waiting for a place to work

 

Have to say that I am embarrassed to admit that this one has been setting on jackstands for over two years now. After being my daily for about 4 years, it needed a new ring gear. Replaced the ring gear, got the transmission back in and that is where it sat. Now can't get it to start. Will have to get a new battery and start trying to diagnose the issue.

That's bare metal with Gibbs oil rubbed on it
It looks more uniform now though!......

My old stuff involves 3 trucks, a 1936 Dodge Truck, a 1937 ME 32 1.5 Ton Stakebed, and a 1938 Plymouth Truck.

The 1936 is going to be a Hot Rod with the original 1/2 ton rear end with leaf springs, a 354 Hemi, and a Ford Wishbone front suspension to allow me to steer around the Hemi. No fenders on this truck...

The 1937 will be restored. Then upgraded to a 251 big flathead six, a auxiliary transmission added for OD, and 12V system.

The 1938 Plymouth Truck will be restored. Unfortunately I will have to run a 230 in it until I can find a original PT57 201 engine block to put back in it.

Where did you get those cast iron headers?

 

We have a complete drive train from a 33 Plymouth sedan with a good running engine if you would like to talk to us?

 

It has cast iron headers? If so,I may be interested in buying them.

Got hold of a 331 Industrial that was built by a local guru. Short block with heads off but redone.
Bored .030 over. Stock style flat-top pistons. Hope it has enough poop as the HEMIs of that era had only about 7:1 ratio. Maybe someday, I'll get some dome-heads. Has new lifters. Changed to full flow filter setup via HotHeads adapter and diverter.
Also used HH adapter for the rebuilt 727.

This will go into the '40 Chrysler in the avatar.

It's sitting in the engine bay, but not in final position yet as I'm still sorting out how to get the steering column/shaft by the left head and exhaust. Think I have it figured out..just need to build it.




This is how the engine looked when I got it with the original water pump. I installed a GM bb water pump (next pic) so that there's no problem getting a replacement later on. Used HH adapters for this as well.
But ...this necessitated making a crossover for the heads; which the original pump had and even tho' this was a rebuilt pump, I didn't want to cut that portion off just for a crossover.





The crossover was a separate part on some engines, but I couldn't locate one at the time.
So....I built the one you see in the last pic.
As luck will have it, one came up for sale about the same time I was finishing it up.

I still have the water pump, so if anyone's interested in it, let me know. As I mentioned, I'm pretty sure it's a re-man unit as there was still a paper sticker on it.
There's also a good 12v starter that came with the 331; it could use a new Bendix gear.
Don't need it now as the starter is now on the opposite side because of the 727 bell-housing.
IDK, it may fit other engines of that era.

Just finished the engine.Have lots to do on the head. I have 37/38 fenders & doors in the for sale page. Cheep!

 

Hopefully will be firing this off tomorrow in the 52

We have a 33 Plymouth 2 door with a 383 Mopar and are looking at radiators
What are you folks using for cooling these V-8
Are there some better than others?

 

I have the stock radiator in my 46 Plymouth, I modified the lower hose connection to work with the v8. Cooling is more than adequate as long as I'm moving, sitting in traffic is a different story, it tends to run a bit warm when sitting still but in my situation it's lack of airflow because of the small 4 blade engine driven fan.

 

BUY IT, LOWER IT, LOWER TOP, AND DRIVE AND ENJOY....

 

My 33 Plymouth PD Coupe. I bought it in June 2015 and worked on it until December 2015 when a medical problem slammed the brakes on my progress. I hope to get back on it soon. I can't believe I just now found this thread.

 

my 1954 Plymouth Belvedere. currently in the process of having the bearings of its flat 6 redone, but ran like a dream prior. just thought i'd ad my mopar to the collection here. (and no, i didnt keep the tiger stripe box under the dash, its now thankfully gone)
how she sits currently. fun times ahead with a traditional, driveway engine build.

My 1938 Plymouth pick up, and my 1964 Dodge 330 wagon.

 

I recently got a '59 Dodge pickup. It came to me as an unfinished project.
Crown Vic front, 4-link 83/4 rear with discs. 5.9 Magnum with 46RH. Most mechanical is done, just about to start on the wiring. I fixed the floors & body mounts, but the body still has a long ways to go.
