Art & Inspiration How would you "H.A.M.B." this truck?

I've become the new owner of a '54 Dodge 1/2 ton pickup. Why? Well, it is a no rust, no payment, and no appeal truck. And it was fairly cheap.

The question: How would one HAMB this truck? The great folks on the Photoshop thread have done wonders but what I want are opinions. Then I could send it over to Moose and his buddies. Should I have a sun visor (louvered?) Steel wheels with dog dish hub caps? Mexican blanket seats? Coddington wheels? Oh, wait, I already know the answer to that one.

Anyhow, what are the absolute "haves" and absolute "never ever" items for my project? It is likely to remain a flathead 6, 3 speed transmission truck.

Just lower it a little and keep it a truck. Maybe paint the grill bars black to match the bumper, but that thing looks fun in it's simplicity.

I'd say NO on the visor. Keep the steel rims you hve. Whatever is comfortable for seat covers. Make it mechanically sound and drive the h#ll out of it.

Assuming you don't want to repaint it a different color.......

I would paint the wheels black and use chrome hub caps with trim ring. Lower it a little. Maybe paint the grille black or another color. Add a 2 carb intake and dual exhaust. If you want to make it a little more streetable change the tranny to a 5 speed. All easy stuff. Cool truck though!

"no appeal"?????! Jeez, you may not be worthy of that fine piece of commercial a**.......

Seriously, if you wanna "HAMB" it, dump the front, drop in a poly (or a Red Ram -heh,heh) and a torqueflight, chrome the grill and the running boards, and put on some big-and-littles with chrome reverse wheels and NO caps. Tack on a big slab of wood to the front and plate frames that say, "My other car is a gasser". Then get one of those, too.

    That thing is p-e-r-f-e-c-t.

I know you didn't ask for photoshop, but I couldn't help it. I think because the truck is yellow some chrome reverse wheels are in order as well as getting it in the weeds!

I'm a big believer in the KISS Principal, so I wouldn't making a lot of changes. I'd work on the stance, try to drop the front a little, but not try to lower it all too much. I'd definitely do something different with that grill. And I'm not a fan of the bumble bee colors, so I'd change that. I'd even prefer primer to that bright yellow.

Keep It Simple. Enjoy that sweet little pickup and don't worry about what other folks would do.

May be cliche but I cant help but like door logos also on certain old trucks, No offense but the yellow does remind me of some of the old yellow state road department trucks etc.

Looks just about damn near perfect to me. As others have mentioned, a little chrome, some blacked out pieces, you're done. Also, keep in mind that if you ever want to sell it down the road, customs are just that....custom....for you, and everyone else's vision will be different. KISS.

This is a good point and even tho I like the shop truck look, you would need to consider what you put on the door if you put anything at all if you would possibly want to sell in the future.

Thanks for all the good suggestions. I did forget to mention that the color is going away at some point. The truck is some funny color of yellow and one can see the orange peel and runs from the street. The idea of a black truck with red steel wheels is kind of appealing, too. Thanks, again.

now you tell us, after everyone was trying to accept that oddball color - how about a deep metallic blue or red with chrome wheels?
