That's amazing. I love to see the cars after some bad runs, but I've never before seen a picture with the driver still in the car. Who is it?

tommyd I saw one of the BF/X Comets at an old Ford store in Fayetteville maybe eight years ago. I'd forgotten that Ford also did a small block car. I stopped to see a restored '63 Ford NASCAR that was visible from the street. Fellow took me in the back to show me some of the cars which included this nicely restored Comet.

To me, 60's top flight competitive FED's (Fuller, Woody, Black, Pink, Hanna, Ewing etc.) have a timeless beauty like Indy Roadsters. My favorite though is the 'bare bones' Surfers. Maybe I just like the Yellow Scoop. Hell, everybody likes that particular yellow scoop. From a half mile away you knew who it was.

There is some great footage of it (and several other cool diggers) in the movie "Bikini Beach"

Wow have you guys been looking at the very good video tapes by Tom Jobe on the building & running of the surfers fueler, great stuff with no stupid music just words to listen to

I was here then and it is bringing back memories , plus learning new things I never knew about the bunch from the ' Red Apple Motel '

You gotta take a look , DND

I spent a lot of time at Lions in the 60's while I was stationed at Pendleton and after I got out. I was wondering if anybody remembers a fueler sponsored by Pepe's Pizza Parlor. I was at Lions the night it crashed at the far end and the driver lost his life. Does anybody remember the drivers name?

  25. Malone was an amazing guy, could drive anything, an underappreciated guy.

Malone had seat time in a Novi, IIRC.
