It was nice to meet you and put a face with the posts. LoL! I thought the show was really good this year, but it was definitely "different" and I couldn't put a finger on it. I would have thought that there would have been more people/cars with the weather as nice as it was, but it didn't seem quite as packed as even last year at 110°!! And I echo you on the quality and style of cars this year. There were SEVERAL nice customs that I had not seen before and only a handful of turd buckets! LoL!
Now.... To get my Buick on the road.....!:(

  3. OG, so good to meet you face to face! I really enjoyed the weekend for my first trip to Salina. The only other Spectacular I had been to was the 20th in Wichita in 2000. The weather was great, lots of really nice cars and tons of great people! Really nice location....tons of shade and real nice layout to the park. I'll be back. :D

drove the '39 to Salina this year because the Merc wasn't able to make it this year. Driving a Hot Rod to a Kustom show felt like a Baptist going to a Methodist church. I was accepted and it was all good it just felt a little uncomfortable..... Be sure to check out the event coverage from Travis Royboy Scanlan. Koolest Spectacular that I have be to so far.

Mick, did you get photos of the 40 Ford sedan that Stuckey did back in the 60's? Channeled and not chopped originally. You did a post some years back with photos off Carnut.com about Stuckey. Car is now on an S10 frame with top chopped but a long way from done. You were wondering about where it had gone in one of your previous posts and now you know it is still around but in a different version.

Borrowed this picture from Dennis. A lot of guys wanted to buy it, just a bit too high.

Had a great time, set up next to too tall okie. The weather was great. The cars were great and the 57 truck ran perfect!

It seems like a lot of regulars didn`t attend this year. But a different batch of cars replaced them. This is why I don`t miss it. This is the first time I`ve seen the Doug Thompson Merc. I talked to the owner who says this is the First KKOA event he has attended. I asked WHY? Good seeing everybody this year. Congrats to Dennis McPhail and Gary(Chop It) Fioto for being inducted into the Hall of Fame.

  13. stanlow, I looked for you there. I did talk with your dad for a few minutes...

  14. Sorry I can't help with the name of the owner of the '54 Chevy 37gas, but I did find a picture of a car that looks to be the same one while surfing the internet today.
This picture was taken at a custom car show in Tennessee in 1993.

    P1080055-vi.jpg

Then here's two I took of it at the Leadsled Spectacular last weekend. I didn't get a picture of the passenger side, but it did have a frenched antenna in about the same spot. Lots of similarities, could be the same car. If your car looked like these, it had to be hard to let her go. Nice ride.........E

You can find more pic`s from the Starlinner show a couple years ago on Royboys site. Joe Gra---- from the Omaha area owns the car. The spelling and saying of his name are a hard one to master.

Here is a pic of that car back in the day. I bought a bunch of old 2x2 car show pics on eBay about 10 years ago and there it is....

My daughter set me an email right after the show she found on facebook. Someone liked my convertible and had a picture of my convertible in their post. It was the main picture in their post. That made me feel very good.
