  6. As long as I can remember, I've been in and into some really cool cars. My very first memories were of my dad's little Triumph. That's me (the one on the LEFT!), circa 1965!

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1470062773.569905.jpg

I would cry when he went to work, not because he left, but because he took it with him!

He was a car guy growing up as well! At 12, he tried to buy a Model T from a neighboring farmer for $25 but grandpa wouldn't let him!!

In his teens, dad had a '49 shoebox.

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1470062920.427131.jpg

    That's mom on the fender!

Yes, '49, in this pic, circa 1959, he had wrecked it twice, resulting in a later model front clip grafting. (Check the grill insert!). The local Ford dealer mentioned to a customer once that he kept a little baby blue paint in stock for WHEN dad brought it in for repairs!!

    Dad kept spiffy cars.

One of my favorites was the '63 Impala SS convertible he had. White on white with red interior! It was a 283/PG, but man, was it cool!!

My dad's first car, a raked out '64 Comet with a lace paint job. That's his second car behind it, a '66 Beetle. It would eventually get flared fenders and flaked out green paint with fades.

By the early 70's my dad had a fleet of cars completely taking over my grandparents garage. The car in the garage is my dad's 38 Chevy that I still own.

My Grandpa ran a DX station on the North Side of Des Moines for years. Because of the 70's gas crunch, he turned it into a used car lot. Don Hay Sales.

My dad's first ride when he was 16 in 1959.

1940 ford 2 door sedan running a 1956 Pontiac motor. Blue/ white Tijuana tuck n roll interior....

A few years later after saving every penny, he pulled this custom order 1966 396 chevelle with polished American mags(which he literally polished every day) off the local Chevy dealership...

The car my dad learned to drive in. Ran it out of gas going up and down the driveway before he had his license.

image.jpeg This is probably my favorite picture in my dads photo album. This picture was taken in the earl 80's in my grandparents front yard. My dad owned both the 34 and the 32, and he was headed to a swap meet in Memphis.
