Event Coverage Deuce Days in Victoria this Sunday. This is the last time All is going to host this show.

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Steveo, Jul 18, 2016.

  1. Over 1100 cars from all over North America and the world. More than 400 Deuces and many very special cars. A show worth seeing.

    Will do Bubba.
Wish I knew when Bruce was cruising through south of Portland.
I'm not going but I live just a few blocks from Interstate 5, I'd go give em the deuce wave.

Hopefully a successor will be found to keep Deuce Days going - it has been a great show and having it every three years is just right.

I agree. It's an awesome show. He said 2013 was going to be the last show and here we have another. So hopefully that happens again!

Al.! I've got to cut him some slack, my fingers do that all the time. Maybe I'm better at editing.

  11. OK, too may L's.

I was thinking it was some kind of Canuck folly, not a name.

    Thanks for the clarification. HRP

If you thought an extra "L" could trip you up, be glad there wasn't a "Z" in there somewhere. Maybe one of our brothers from the Great White North will finally explain to us (me), why the hell do they say "Zed" instead of "Z".

    @falcongeorge

  13. That beats the hell outta me !!!! suppose the pronunciation differs same as your regional differences thru out the US.....

DDDenny, what I have always been confused about is where in the hell you guys get "zee" from?
I have heard that the British/Canadian "Zed" pronunciation is actually a bastardization of the Ancient Greek "Zeta".

I am on my kids iPad, and don't know how to post links on here, but I just googled "Zeta Wikipedia" and it appears to validate what I posted above, try googling it and take a look at it.
I will leave to our southern neighbours to post something on the origins of the "Zee" thing.

Ha! In the crowd I grew up with, we actually used to call them "zed zed top" as kind of a backhanded, inside joke, tongue-in-cheek Canadian thing!
    Besides, zed28 sounds better...;):D

Any pics yet? We heard from a group traveling up the Oregon coast. Road trip pics, then show pics, please. Don't keep all the fun to yourselves.

First time this came to my attention was in early 80's, racing at Westwood, your guys were running TZ Yammers on their 250 shifter karts.
    Just hav'n fun y'all.
Seems simply a matter of fixing what's not broke, Z is Z down here, from Portland to Poukipsee.
So I don't get immolated for taking this thread off track, I'll close by saying that I hope you have a great Deuce Day, been wanting to come up since I first saw it on Al's website many years ago.

My metal shaping mentor was just over here picking up some stuff before I leave, we started talking a bit, apparently he knows Al Clark very well, which shouldn't surprise me, he was active in the Vancouver Island hot rod scene from the late fifties to the eighties.
He would really like to go, but unfortunately, feels his health isn't up to it.
