I attended the Meltdown over the weekend, had a great time. We were setting in the bleachers when an English built Ford came up .The name on it was "The Prefect Storm" A girl about 10 was setting in front of us and she told her Mom ,"look that guy can't even spell Perfect right" ya just gotta laugh.

"Prefect" is a play on words, not an error, although it looks like one at first

I don't get the play on words, and yes, I know the difference between prefect and perfect. Strangely enough, homeroom class in my HS was called prefect, probably because that's where attendance was taken and grades were compiled.

  9. The car is a Ford Prefect - what's Not to get?

  14. Let's just say that if you had the perfectly fastest Prefect it would be perfectly okay for you to race your Prefect.:D

I had a good one this weekend. A father with two teenage boys look inside my 32 sedan, I have a 5 speed and next to that is my E-brake handle. The dad says to the boys see that handle right there (pointing at the e-brake) this guy has a 2 speed rear end, just pull it and you have another gear! Wow I wish I would have know I had that I had a two speed! IMG_0345_2.JPG

I get it on this car, but when I see street four doors where they try to hide the back doors, I don't get that. If I ever have a four door I'm gonna let it all hang out, maybe even have four outside mirrors. :)

My brother Paul and I own the Prefect in question and I'm getting some enjoyment out of this thread. The most common question we get is - What is it ?. And more than a few folks have pointed out what they believe is a spelling error in the name. Ron Leak (announcer) called it a Ford Perfect all weekend. The second most common question is - when will you finish it. I will go on record here and simply say we will never paint it. We built the Prefect from a stocker we literally found sitting beside a barn. We built a race car chassis for it and dropped the totally stock Prefect body on top. If some low life hadn't stolen the door handles we would be proudly displaying all four (Not trying to hide the back doors in any way). We also resisted the common practice of putting an Anglia front end on it.

2 Meltdowns ago Gasser Wars Magazine did a feature on the Prefect.

Center steer - cuz we screwed up the chassis and didn't leave room for 2 seats side by side
    Ran a best of 10.29 / 131 Sunday at Meltdown 7

No I didn't say anything ,my guess is she was probably on her first drag race and she didn't need an old man to make her feel bad. We need to lighten up on these newbies fellas ,they have to be around to buy our junk someday .
Saxxon , love the Prefect and the Scout, did you ever do a build thread on the Scout?
