I put an A518 behind a '58 325 ci Dodge Hemi using a Hot Heads adapter. Good quality adapter, everything fit well, and the transmission was still a MOPAR unit.

what year hemi? If 51-53, you are dealing with extended bell housing. Even some 54's came with extended bell. Both transadapter and wilcap have the adapters, but the crankshaft spacer is awfully long.

Same here. Put that A518 behind the '55 270 Hemi. Works great. Got my adaptor from Wilcap. Getting about 22mpg. at 70 down the highway. Turning about 1800 ....

  9. I don't see an imperial ? Or pictures? Or mention of a year or extended bell. Just mention of 331.

Doesn't work on extended bell 331's. And I believe the vendor stopped carrying the extended bell adapter

Not an extended bell housing. I emailed Wilcap (I'm in Oz so that's easier) and didn't get a response. Hot Heads have one though it seems to cover a range of Hemi's so I'm guessing it may need mods?

    Ahh, the extended block.

I have only seen this done one of two ways:

    1. Bellhousing sawn off of the transmission and an adapter put on the front pump bolts.

    2. The whole block extension milled off of the block, and new mounting holes drilled.

  14. Yeah, but it's not an extended bell housing .

It is just me then, ok:p

You will spend another $600+ for a stand alone computer but you won't have to fight a TV cable

  16. Carly, Standard Hot heads chevy adapter is all you need. Same bolt pattern as 350/400/p0werglide.

  17. I didn't see 4L60E and not the same as a 4L60

  18. Yeah, I only saw T700.

  19. I have the Hot Heads Adptr on my 354 with a th350, and is true that the 4l60 will bolt to a early small block, so this adptr should work. Email Hot Heads.

  21. T700r4 and 4l60 are the same, it was renamed from T700r4 to 4L60 for GM rename campaign. 1992 93 and 94 are the weird transition years when GM was doing the change over so the car could have a 4l60 or 4l60E. 1995 on its a 4l60E . You'll have to look at the Trans- a 700 and 4l60 have a TV cable and 4 prong plug in the drivers side, (US left had drive) the 4L60E has no TV cable and a 13-22 pin round connector on the passenger side. 4L60E is the later computer controlled version & needs one to shift.

Also all ( all means ALL) are the same bolt pattern as the TH350 and TH400.
If you have a RH drive vehicle, watch or ask what side you want the starter on because drivers side in US is Left.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking from my research. The TV cable looks to be a nightmare. That said I dunno if I'm keen on adding an ECU to my jalopy. Darn decisions, ha ha

Are you running TV cable or ECU?

I'm now a little concerned about the set-up. Might be a little too high-tech for the type of rod i'm building. That said if I can hide it all away and it works well them I'm on it! :)

    It is not a nightmare.

It takes just a few minutes to set one up properly, provided you have obtained the correct parts.

  28. I wouldn't rely on your research at all.

  29. TV cable, 700r4 & Edelbrock 650, but it's not on the road yet.
