Haven't been back since the 48 cutoff was dropped. I do miss the show, how is it compared to what it used to be?

Not going to complain. I had been every year for 25 years and when they changed the cutoff year I stopped. My dad and I went the last two years and it's not the same as it was. Just look past the cars you don't want to see and you are fine. Dad won the giveaway car in '91 and I'm trying to convince him to get it out and make the trip down this year.

I'd like to go but a $100+ a night is too much for me, any suggestions?

Yes there are 4 of us going again this year. It's not like it use to be but it's all about the money for NSRA. I guess I can sort out all the crap and look for the neat cars.

One year we camped in the back of my '48 chev truck. We tried it last year in my '32 and the cops came around and kicked us off the grounds.

Where can you get a decent motel room for less then $100? Sleep in your car rather then get a room? Thats insane. Don't know about everyone else, but I enjoy a hot shower after a day walking around looking at cars. Those getting anywhere close to you will appreciate it as well. What do you y'all do for food? I don't think I want to know.

I plan on leaving on Tuesday or Wednesday. Stopping at the Corvette Plant in Bowling Green and then on to Louisville on Thursday.

A little cleanup is the bathrooms in the morning. Plenty of good places to eat on the grounds and surrounding. Plus we had a cooler with plenty of water, lunch meat, bread Etc. It's one of those trips you won't forget and we still have laughs about it. Spending time with him is pretty important to me so no matter what we do I enjoy it.

  14. Legends: You have to order your plant tour tickets ahead of time. Bought three today. They must be busy.

Here's a link to everything you need to know about the Corvette plant tours. It's right next to I-65 at exit 28 and the museum is right across the road from it....

Going up on Wednesday, working registration on Thursday (second shift) and then out to look/enjoy all the cars, new parts, swap meet and see all the folks that I do not get to see but once a year.

For the first time in a long time i'm not staying on Phillips lane. I went out east, i'm about 7 min out. Motel was 72 bucks. I've been told to cross river into Jefferson and rate really drop. The further out you go cheaper the rates !!

It's actually Jeffersonville. Clarksville and New Albany are also right across the river. There are also several hotels in La Grange, Ky which is at exit 22 of I-71 about 25-30 miles from the Street Rod Nats. That's where the CSX railroad tracks go right down the middle of the street through the downtown area. I live about 5 miles from there. PM me if you want more info or have any questions. My name is Dave...

No, Jeffersonville isn't any cheaper. We stayed at the Sheraton for years and the last quote we got was $166 a night. It's a straight shot up Rt 65 and then over the bridge, 10 min. at the most.

Will be there all four days. Staying at my house with running water and a hot shower. Not sleeping in my car or cleaning up in the morning in a Porta Pottie. Just the thought of it turns my stomach.
Lots of motels with A/C and showers at exit 17 off I 64 East. Have friends who have stayed there for years. No need to travel all the way to LaGrange. Lots of motels way closer.
