Looks like 16 gage mild steel is too thin for the vibrations of a banger engine. Some vibrate much more then others

This is the 2nd intake that I know of to develop vibration cracks.... I suggest running a brace from the carb flange to a head stud. That should prevent and future cracks

    It's not helping the harmonics.....
Strap the top of the intake to the head and every thing should be just fine.

This 1911 National was at the Miller Meet in Milwaukee this past weekend. This copper tube is one piece plumbed into the exhaust manifold on the other side of the motor traveling between the 2 cylinder heads. The section you see behind the steering gear box is pointing towards the ground dumping the exhaust after it travels through the copper. http://www.harrymillerclub.com/

This was also at the Miller Meet. Has anyone seen this head before? I could not find anything about it on line. If I remember this is a school project car. I believe the block is Ford industrial. P6230040.JPG P6230041.JPG P6230043.JPG P6230044.JPG P6240127.JPG

I was also at the Miller Meet. Some different cars this year, but overall the count seemed down.

    Bcchopit,
I thought right away after the cracking that a brace/strap would be a good idea. I'll be getting around to it soon.
    thanks

at first glance I thought of gemsa dual over head .

  9. A DOHC head designed and manufactured by the late Robert (Bob) McKinney (REM ENG) from CA. I had the good fortune of meeting him at his humble home based shop, and the man was a mechanical genius. He made the heads, a bottom end 5 main girdle and oil pan, aluminum connecting rods, flywheels, front covers, side drives and some other pieces I am sure that I am forgetting. If I recall, his heirs sold off the inventory, and the four cylinder mastermind's heritage dissolved. A very modest, unassuming guy who had a love of all things banger related. He introduced me to Dan Iandola. One of my most unforgettable memories.
