Looking for a pre-1965 Chrome Ball, 2" for a trailer hitch, for a pre-1965 travel trailer. I realize this might be difficult to find, but thought I would start here. IF I can only find it, then my primary project would be complete and on the road. Thanks, & May God Bless.
I wanted to say something off color here but instead I will give you a bump. I imagine that you will need to find NOS and I hope you find it. good luck to you.
Been looking for a reason to post pic's of this old ball as I am also into old classic boats, wood and Fiberglass. No it's not Chrome or a 2" or a traditional hot rod part but you get another free pump non the less!
Some of the old balls were very interesting. Might make a good thread post your old balls. Well maybe not come to think of it.LOL
You would need one that has the carrage bolt through it? Were they all chromed or is there a cheap model? I may have one but don't remember it being chromed nor do I really know where it is..
I understand. Mis-placed balls can be hard to locate..Sometimes last place ya look, there they are. I do think some standard models aren't chrome. Mostly deluxe, would be chrome tho.
Like Anthony Weiner I have nothing better to do than post pic's of my balls. This Valley or custom (no name) made one have to be old...........................................
They came both ways as I recall, chrome and black. I know in the old Monkey Wards catalogs you could find them both ways.
yes, Some are wore out, Only good for show, after a while, no interest, just sorta of a nuisance no one wants to voluntarily get rid of tho.
I cannot say for a fact that blue balls is even a legit ailment. I do have an old pair of balls in a pink wrapper and have been told that they must be brass at least once.
I'll look at my balls, I haven't seen them in awhile. Nothing unusual but I do have some oddball couplers. My stump grinder has a half ball on top and a fork that slips under the ball, with a bolt that clamps it together. My old boat had a round tube open ended tongue with a slot at the bottom that slid over the ball, and a cap that clamped on the front.
Quote "I cannot say for a fact that blue balls is even a legit ailment" If you mean blue as in sad, thats a legit ailment.
been playing with trailer balls for a long time....You are most likely looking for the ball with a square hole in the top that used a carriage bolt (1/2") with a square nut. A 60 falcon I worked on had one like that (long time ago) I do remember the one above with the "gator" teeth that was of the square hole design and may predate the solid ones. Almost all the balls I have seen that were older than 1969 were not chrome, most were black, some were red rust and jus t a few were blue.....
Back to topic, all the ones on my trailer hitch shelve are modern Draw-Tite and other brands.....sorry. I do have an old set of NOS in box round metal trailer lights though
