Very nice! There's like 3 Track T threads going on right now, all of them are outstanding. Great job!

I managed to come up with a way to install the pristine surplus aircraft seat belts he brought me, these were mandatory in order for his daughter to take rides in her grandpas car per her mother. No argument there.

 

I am glad that those did not go missing. So cool.

 

Took a temp reading after driving back from good guys, are we in the acceptable range. I feel it's ok, even though it's higher than I anticipated.

So there was a problem with oil puking out of the breather on the quick change. My solution was to make an air/oil separator out of some aluminum tube and solid stock. I machined some end plugs with a step so they fit snug inside the tube. I also machined a bevel on the caps and tube and welded them up.

Some quick work with a pipe tap made it so I could put some hose barbs on it and topped it off with a clamp on valve cover breather filter. The idea is to let oil settle in the mini tank and allow hot air to vent. When it cools down the suction will draw the oil back into the axle. It's only a small bit of oil but it makes a huge mess when it sprays everywhere while driving. Hopefully it will be better, haven't tested it yet.

Total cost was an hour and a half working and welding with the scrap aluminum and 22 bucks for the filter. Hose barbs were just laying around. Summit wants over 90 bucks for the same thing.

No, but I'm friends with a lot of CSRA members, and would need a "Finished" car to be a jacket wearing member, something that just won't be happening in my lifetime. They are a year away from their 50th anniversary, pulled some great deals out of their swap meets over the years. Going to the Fathers Day event in a few weeks. Bob

 

What PSI in the rear rubber. Looks like an overdose for the weight, but I could be wrong.

All nice work in the car.

 

It was at 35 just for sitting in the garage to keep flat spots from developing then I dropped it down to 26.

Sean just sent me these pictures of a custom shift knob hand made by his friend Jeter Case of Jackson Hole, Wyoming. It features Sean's fathers initials at the base and his nick name initials on the top. He even integrated the Lokar mechanism so I can just bolt it on and not risk ruining it tryin to do it myself. Pretty neat, and gets rid of the generic Lokar knob.

Did you get the new bolts for the front springs?

 

I am very proud to have had a role in this legacy project!

 

Yes I raised it just a tad to level the top of the frame to the top of the front axle. New rear spring and shackles are on order.

 

I'd love to see more pictures. Tell us about how you designed and set up the rear of the chassis as well, please.

Was your choice in curving the kick up in the back as opposed to using a "Z" purely cosmetic? How high is it?

 

Pure aesthetics. It is 16".
