I went to see my buddy Jamie Ellenwood at the Badlands Trading Co in Rapid City and we punched 130 louvers in my hood and sides. If anyone needs louvers or any other work done to their hotrod in the Sd area hit him up.

 

Wow, fantastic work ! I guess that answered my question.

 

Just finished reading through your thread. Love what you've done! One question? Is the angle of your drag link in relation to your split bones going to cause a lot of bump steer for you?

I see that your tie rod is on the top side of your wishbones and beneath your frame.
Is that going to hit the bottom of your frame rail when the front spring flexes up and down when you're hitting bumps? There doesn't appear to much room for movement once the engine is in place.
I'm working with this same potential issue as well, so I thought I'd say something.

 

I guess I forgot to finish this post. Here's the rest of the build pics.

I got it home to South Carolina and got back at it after a short break. I got the trans bolted in.


I also put the engine in. It's a 274 with Offy heads, an Edelbrock Super intake, 400jr cam, and some other bells and whistles.


I designed this gauge holder/steering column mount and 3d printer it out of abs.




I had a helmet style distributor rebuilt by Michael Driskell at Third Gen Automotive, and replaced the Harmon Collins dual coil setup. It was cool, but old technology that was a little complicated.

I painted it black with roll on rustoleum tractor paint.


Then I painted a few shades of red and some oxide primer over it. Then I covered all of that with roll on Rustoleum Ford Red Tractor paint.



Then to start wet sanding. I went through in a few spots.









I had my other set of 32 wires powder coated and wrapped them in some Coker bias look radials.

















I've been enjoying and driving it whenever I can. It has 4.11's in the rear and a pretty short tire, so it's a little rough to drive far. It's also super loud. Turns a lot of heads though.

I picked up an old Laycock overdrive unit. When I get some more time, and a new torque tube, I'm going to figure out how to get this mounted up. Should make it a lot nicer to drive any distance.

Interesting mix of old and new (ABS? Blimey!) Not sure about the head lights yet but it's different. maybe they'll grow on me. Glad to see you got it on the road and are having fun with it, good job mate.
