I always thought GTO and BelAir would be a good race but my car is not that slick.

    James:
That 409 car and the ZettleMobile would look killer lined up together!
Why do you second guess your stuff so much?
Anything is gonna look average next to the paint on that GTO.It is an absolute work of art.
For a guy who is the cornerstone of what the Meltdown is all about (ingenuity, hard work, finding every last hp per dollar) you sure do worry a lot.;)

If I was half the mechanic that you are,I would be totally content,Brother:)

  9. When I was a teenager, there was a cool '63 Hardtop 409/4 speed that ran at LACR, called "The Ancient Rat" and had a character rat on the door beneath the name that looked like the rat Kung Fu master on teenage Mutant Turtles. I alway like the name since the 409 was kinda of the grandpa of the modern big block. I always thought it'd be bitchen to build a 62-63 409 Chevy II Sedan as a factory option, or even a wagon. There is a guy her on the HAMB, doing a wagon like that.

Just remember, just because you throw on some Cragars and get some red tinted windows, doesn't mean you have a dragcar. The GTO is often imitated, but never duplicated. I don't remember Arnie "The Farmer" Beswick coming all the way from Morrison just to watch the Okie Doker.

Tonight at the dinner table, "Dad I finally got to sit in a Real Man's car didn't I?" "Just remember son, all you did is SIT in that car, which is what it usually does on the starting line when it's at the Meltdown." "Now if you want to hold on for dear life in a real car let's go out to the garage and get in the PONTIAC!!"

Didn't mean to sound sarcastic, I apologize, if I could see a pic of the car I'm sure I'd remember it.

It looks to be a nice car, no shame in that one from what I see.

If you shoot that car in black and white, the photos would look just like they were taken in 1964.
The wheel and tire combo, the black paint and red interior....That freakin car is a home run.:)

I was measuring for shocks last night and figured I only have a little over 2" of travel at the shock between sitting at rest and jacked up enough to get the wheel off the ground. It doesn't sound like much because it's limited to movement by the shackle. Maybe take some leafs out on front to soften it up to allow for more travel? I just don't know how much a difference a 90/10 will affect with very little travel....

Are you sure that is a Chevy. I mean it looks like a 409 but I am thinking it is likely a Ford of some kind since it seems all the bolts have fallen out of it!:p

Better loctite your starter bolts Scotty, I hear small block Fords tend to loose them when you twist then up.
