There were a lot of unhappy racers last year... I think you're seeing the effects on here. Hopefully things went better this year.

I hope all the racers had a great time this year! The IG post looked spectacular.

I also hope that the NJ State Police didn't send out the same dickheads as they did last year. They created a lot of the issues in '15.

Looks like Mel and Bobby made the changes they proposed last year and the event was running like a well oiled machine. Hope to be back on the sand next year.

  6. What an amazing time. They were calling for some rain but it never came. Weekend was beautiful. I thought the whole thing was very well run. The only challenge was finding a good view with all the people there. Had a great time driving around wildwood in the roadster. Well worth the nine hour drive. I raced this past weekend, and two other times previously at other TROGs. Major changes were implemented this past weekend after last year's backlash. As a racer, I got 8 passes in on Saturday and 10 in on Sunday. They changed some things to allow for smoother transitions between each run which I think worked. For the money we paid to run, we got two full days of racing (weather did hold out until the end!), a Friday night street party attended by thousands, and a beach bonfire with rock bands. They went back to including a racer jersey for the guys running and put together a nice goody bag with all kinds of nice stuff

Racer timing tags were also handed out upon check in, stamped with car numbers and ready to go

Things were drastically changed for the better and very well oiled this year, really

Of the 5 years that I've attended, this was by far the most spectators I've seen at one if these also. I couldn't believe the people there on Sat

The wall of death was brought in and I believe they had over 2000 people in and out of there watching shows.

    Enjoy the pics

  8. I also had one of the best times with my wife. We had so much fun all weekend. Was great camping half an hour away. The drive back and forth was fun. Plus no one woke us up early Saturday morning![ ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1465223460.566516.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1465223471.102840.jpg ATTACH=full]3236836[/ATTACH] ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1465223416.830061.jpg

Thanks so much to Mel and the oilers for such a great time.

I was pissed at the way the cops were being jerky on Friday night. After I got over that the race went smoothly. Everyone was so nice and I met many people that I consider friends now. I wasn't going to build a new car for next year but I may now. I was under the impression that you could not run the same car year after year but apparently you can run it 2 years. Also heard June will be date for next year. At least we get a full 12 months to build again. I will be back with my current or last year's car next year if I don't huild another

Glad to hear the positive feedback on this year's event, I would very much like to run my T on the beach at some point (somewhere, kinda in the middle of the country here!) and some of the arguing over the date change had me worried but it looks like it went off very well.

Hoping to see more pictures since I don't do Instagram.

This was my third year going to ROG and I always have a blast down there. Mel and the Oilers put on an awesome event and this year was the best one yet. From a spectators standpoint I think the best change they made was letting the racers stage in a group of seven or eight at the end of the track and then they'd all return in a group. It really sped up the time between runs and made for constant action. I also appreciate the little details like making sure the there was plenty of coffee and food available. The Wall of Death was so rad, I saw Rhett Rotten perform that show in 1997 in Laconia NH and he hasn't lost a step. See you dudes next year.

Couple pictures from the weekend. If you haven't read the story of the Bud Hinman roadster it's a good one. The guy below built the roadster in '47 and took a pass in it this weekend at 80 years young.

There were 130ish total racers which was a lot. They really kept things going. Sunday some went home because of the weather threat but still many stayed. It was ran much better than last year

The only issue I think they had Fri was keeping the sidewalks clear. There were lots of people there.. And lots of cars and bikes. Some guys, myself included, were parked on the sidewalk and were asked to move. Their reasoning was that folks were having to walk In to the street because the sidewalk was blocked. Once they explained it to me I was happy to move. They also asked us very nicely which was appreciated. Being June, there was a bit more traffic than Oct so they were just doing their job to keep folks safe. I can live with that

I haven't posted on the HAMB in a long while. But man, it's a week after my first trip to TROG, and I'm still blown away. Amazing experience. Fun, and met some really cool people. Credit to the Oilers, Mel, and Bobby. Keep the mojo going.

  28. Looked like crazy fun. Just out of curiosity, what does a competitive driveline look like? Just wondering power wise and rear end wise...

Tried to regester my car for Pismo and never got a response. Is the race full or are there still slots available?
