I have just registered my Super Charged Austin Gasser car and decided to get personalized tags for it. After quite a bit of deliberation and checking availability etc. I have decided to go this direction.

If you have a cool personalized tag that reflects your car or the hobby, lets see it. If you do not want to put a photo of your plate online, I get it, just type what kind of car and type it in. Even if you saw a cool tag or always wanted one, lets see what they are...

In Oregon we can't have personalized historical plates. We have "SP" or "AQ" plates which are Special use, or antique. You can use year specific plates, which are correct for the year of your car. That's what I have on my Austin, and my Falcon.
But I got very lucky on the Falcon, as a friend found a pair of correct original 1963 plates that read, "4U-454", which was perfect for the .040" over 454 I dropped in my '63 Falcon! They're cheap here at $82 once for life.

Hear are a couple I did have on a couple of my cars until the state decided to triple the price of replacement stickers yeah the stickers not the whole plate! Since gone with YOM plates and a one time fee. As did many former personalized plate owners. So how did that work out for the state? 14UBUD was on the car my Dad bought new and I received when he passed his name was Bud so I did that in his memory. The SUN BRN (SUN BURN)was on a convertible I built for my wife had two meanings the color is a Red mix a buddy and I came up with we called Sun Burn Red and when you ride with the top down and you'll get Sun Burn!. Care to elaborate?
I thought that the idea of these plates was so that people could understand the meaning.

  16. Actually the thread ask the question," Let's see your cool personalized tags",no reference to what car they are attached to.

I see no harm,no foul. HRP

Jalopy Joker, Yea they told me in March of 1967.

clem, Yea you are completely correct the people I care whether they know the meaning or not will Damn Sure understand what that means.

And yes I will elaborate. Tun Tavern was the Birth place of the United States Marine Corps on November 10 1775. And I can see by the few comments I was completely right only a few know the meaning.

  21. I pulled into a Mc Donalds one night. And a sweet little lady, told me she thought that I was a U.F.O. landing. That how it got named. 20160113_141733_001.jpg
