Rock gas (calcium carbide+water=acetylene). Ours were glass cylinders.

  3. So if you put Sombreros on the Pierson '36, that would make it not-40's style? o_O

My '36 Chevy project. I'm building it to a prewar style. It'll get black walls and other touches as I go.

Inline with the sombreros...I'd say ok--ish.
Well I am biased having 49 Chrysler Caps on the Plymouth. So as long as there is a forty-something in there...

Gee it would take an expert to pick the difference between a 40s sombero and a 50s sombero. Heck I know 47s have their own rim and are chromed not ss . . . .but that said I am waivering on retaining Somberos on mine as I might yet go "back" to a 38 Cad cap if I can get them to fit a 15 inch rim. Don't get me wrong the Sombrero is astunning cap. Suddenly like 57 Cad caps on an 80s Merc tho. rps20150629_182251.jpg rps20150308_064048.jpg

My Favorite is Kevin Sledge's Merc. He pulled up to my place with this and it made me cry. This car of his is GORGEOUS.

I followed your build thread, from rust to this, can't believe how hard you worked to get it exactly right, as the original was. The times you took it apart again when it was not exactly what Jesse had..all to get it perfect...hopefully a major magazine is going to feature it??

Thanks 296 (and Dave), it has been quite a journey. A couple of years after I started it TRJ told me to contact them when it was completely finished. I'm going to start that process shortly.

Guess I never put an update to my '39 DeLuxe Tudor up here. Here's pics from over the last year to show where the car is now...

Very Kool, I like the direction that you are going. I have a '39 Standard Sedan and hope to do the same thing that you are doing to yours. Right now the sedan is more Hot Rod than kustom but that will change.

Cool car but not sure when it was taken but pre WW2 near Dayton Ohio. It was in our family photos so probably a friend of my Dads who was killed on Iwo Jima 2/23/45.
