It's ok but I haven't done much with it lately. I'm hoping to take it out for some test n tune days this spring.
That should be fun! Still running a big block? Or did a small block make it's way back in there? Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Sold the big block and put in x balanced 327 with aftermarket 2.02 heads, performer rpm, comp cam and headers. I'd really like to get in in the 12s but so far I'm just enjoying the looks of surprise when I get third gear rubber in the old goofy wagon.
That is awesome!! What cam are you using? I have the same intake and I'm going to be running some worked over, angle plug 2.02 camel hump heads. I was hoping to be in the 13's. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Not to discredit the makers of these headers, but they could've at least ground down the welds on the inside of the tubes. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
It's a 280 Magnum. I'm probably lucky if it'll break into the 13s, but 12.90 is the dream. Posted using the Full Custom twig in the sand App!
Well let me know what you end up running in the 1/4 if you get the chance. I'm planning on running the XE274h from comp cams. Has similar specs as the Magnum 280. Should be interesting! Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
So.... Just to keep track of what I'm doing with this car, here's some updates for those (if any) that are interested. I have decided not to go with the 327. I have acquired a 454 builder that I hope to make a 496. (Some day) However, in the meantime I have a 350 from a suburban I drove for a few years in the car now. I've installed a Comp cams XE262h cam with lifters and new chain and gear set. Put the headers and intake from the 327 on it and backed it up with a rebuilt th350. I know, I know. The ol' tried and true "700" combo. It's just temporary until the big block is done, right?!? Everyone knows how that goes. The truth is I've been sitting on this car for far too long now and in fact have never driven it since buying it. So at least this should be a good enough combination to at least drive it and get all the bugs out. At least I hope so anyway. The suburban motor was a little tired
five spokes or chrome reverse, please. While there was a time the rally wheels looked great on any chevy they didn't originally come on, they are really overdone. Love the '64. Looking forward to more updates.
Yeah, I really like the Ansens. Chrome reverse is the goal. I think the rally's are just gonna be stand by while I'm working all the bugs out. Tires are easier to find for them right now also. The Ansens are 14" and I'm have a hard time finding the right size for the rear that don't cost an arm and a leg.
I hear ya on the baby steps. My Malibu Wagon has been ongoing for a few years now. I converted it into a 2door with some Nomad influenced design. Some of the other changes will be less noticeable but I am sure there will be some people scratching their heads wondering if GM made it that was. If you have not picked your wheels yet, my vote would be for the 5 spoke. They have a great 60's look that I think would go well with your build. Good luck and have fun with your build.
Nice longroof, neighbor! If you've never seen this site, it can be a good source of inspiration for longroof lovers. It hasn't been updated for a decade, but there was a lot of content there already: http://www.stationwagon.com/gallery/gallery.html The "menu" for the gallery is in the left hand column.
Raymay, that's gonna be an awesome wagon! Making mine a 2dr is not an option for me at this point. Chrome reverse style wheels are my finished vision. The 5 spokes are a "go to" for now (because I have them) and the rally wheels are kinda just for getting the bugs worked out of the overall car. I most definitely will NOT be running those caps on the rally wheels. Cowboy Ted, thanks for the link!
I would go with making it a two door with the "C" pillar move up to the "B" pillar position and having no "C" pillar just glass, as in a Nomad or just sheet metal as in a sedan delivery. But before you start, I have to tell you that all my cars are apart and none on the road.
Cortney, that timing chain slack aint nuttin.I have had Oldsmobile chains so loose you could jump rope with them. LOL. Keep up the good work buddy. Bruce.
Raymay, I like the kids labor.I wish I could get my step kids 28 and 31 years old to come help me like that. LOL. Bruce.
