My '39 is just as I found it with the exception of the door logo. No fake patina just years of wear and fade. It's got an 8ba and 12 volts but mostly original otherwise. Now the Studebaker bed that a PO installed back in the day, that's another story.

I like that on an old truck, it's mostly kind of a Western deal though, stuff doesn't rust too quick in an arid climate and the sun is pretty brutal at altitude. SO it weathers to "patina" without being structural. Trying to make this artificially, clear coating.. Eh... That's like sugar free, dairy-free "Ice Cream" or DeCaff. What's the point?

I would love to live in Colorado. I've been through Elizabeth on 86. I had a friend that lived in Castle Rock.

I'm about as antipatina as it gets, an totally hate primer myself ,if ether is thought of as a finiel finish, yet if I can tell someone is working at getting it ready for painting it,I'm good with what there doing for sure! So think there cool car builds . There is a thin line between older paint being taken care of,and what really needs fixinf{but it dose seem to be each ones own idea were that line is. For my self if its showing any other color then what it should be,fix it. "I hear a lot"I'm too broke" one I partly understand, but "I like primer" I don't play well with those, yet would help them sand an get ready for shiny paint if asked to an could. Bottom line is your having fun, don't matter what I or anyone thinks!

a '31 A farm truck I saw at a recent show. Owned by the same guy for the last 50 yrs. Never restored, just maintained and used (as a farm truck) but still running strong and all original. THAT is some honest patina.I admire the makeshift repairs on the fenders to stop the stress cracks.[IMG] [IMG]

Found my 66 on Craigslist. Had been sitting on a farm in Arkansas for the past 20 plus years. Owners father bought it to redo but never got around to it and was in failing health. Bought it sight unseen and got her back on the road within a year. How she looks today.

Just picked this one up. Previous owner said it ran and stopped 6 months ago, shouldn't take to much to get it up and driving.

image.jpeg Not sure if mine belongs here...was yellow when I got it. removed the yellow (with razor blades) and this was underneath, bare metal and original black. no sanding or strippers used

Original paint on this one. Later running gear, all the whistles and bells, just looks stock. P1010146.JPG

That is a great looking car!

  29. I was at a Saturday afternoon cruise-in 10 years ago that used to be held in a local Fred Meyers parking lot. I used to see and talk to this old codger who had two '55 Chevy 2dr HT's that he would bring out. One of them had a fresh paint job and he claimed he had stripped the car entirely himself just using razor blades on the original paint. I think he said the paint would just shatter off the metal. Only time before I heard of someone stripping a car with razor blades.
