Hot Rods The hot rod hat trick and the tale of my first 32 ford

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Hitchhiker, Apr 30, 2016.

  1. Alright...thought you guys might like this ...so on Wednesday I get up at 6 am and head North to almost the Canadian border to rescue this 32 BB truck. It was listed as a model A and I had it loaded and on my way back home by 8:30am.

Yarded the cab off that day. Unfortunately the drivers door it came with was a model A door.... uh oh....

    But fear not....

Thursday evening I drove south and picked up another cab, rusty as hell. But a okay drivers door.

And then the next day I went and bought another cab, just because I could....

And thus the hot rod hat trick and my first 32 purchase. Haha. Just thought it was funny and should share.

Awesome! I've been been kicking the idea around of accumulating the makings of one of these trucks lately. Can never have too much early Ford tin!

Cool! but I would like to see or hear whats goin on with the lug nuts on those front wheels

  10. good things come in threes

  11. Dang, three of um. Your area of the country must be where they all ended up. They are rather scarce way down here.
Good score. You might be able to make a couple out of those.
What style of build is in your plans?

  12. Son of a bitch man!!!
    Good work!

  13. Don't act like you don't have a mountain of great projects or the room to add to them. You're supposed to be thinking about getting rid of one or two things. Remember? ; )

I know the 32, but unsure how to tell the difference between a 33 or 34

    Could be yours!

yeah, 1 32 cab project and some parts for a few others trying to fix their own.

I prefer hot rod project acquisition specialist. haha

It's a ruff life, but someone has to rescue this stuff and find it loving homes!

I'm always up to date on that one!

I have a couple lines on number 4 and number 5 as well! Haha!

No plans really. Just gonna put the good parts on the 32 cab and find it a good home, then sell the rest in parts or whole.

thanks dude! I wanna keep it all, but I got enough stuff!

  14. That's a funny one...

Haha, joking, but seriously, got any model As for sale?

This, finding good stuff, is becoming a habit.
    Please keep it up.

  24. I do want to build a 32-34 truck in the future. But I am already committed to my A pickup for awhile at this point and I really want to build the A roadster I found a bit ago. I do have a very nice 1929 Model A pickup project for sale that I would like to find a new home and All 3 of these will be for sale to help fund my roadster project.

What is the cab on the left. The middle is a '32 firewall but that left one doesn't look '32 to me.

Cab on far left appears to be a 34, due to the pushed out fire wall and 3 ribs across the rear of the cab. The center has the 32 style flat fire wall and should have only 2 ribs on the rear of the cab, the far right cab appears to be a 33,flat fire wall but 3 ribs on the rear of the cab. Only guessing as I can't really see the back of the cabs clearly and don't know for sure which firewall was in the far right one...

I have always totally lusted after the full fendered version of Jay Everetts truck, but I already have too many project cars that the family wont fit in.
