Was that "friend" Stan Beringhele from Culver City? If so I watched him chop, lead, paint and assemble one of the best 32 3W. Coupes ever when starting with a body 1000 times rougher than the one posted here. He was definitely "Old World" rest his soul. Flop, Your metal working skills are incredible!!!!!!! Just fascinating to be able to see the amount of patience time and skill along with the method of execution. You are a truly skilled craftsman!!!! CK.
Kevin, Don't want to hijack Flop's posting, but I'm very impressed with his work. I bought my 3W body from Stan Beringhele in '82 at the Pomona swap. He had decided to part out his Coupe and I got lucky and ended up with the body. My 3W was wrecked in March '99 returning from the drags in Bakersfield and Stan repaired the damage and chopped the top. Not only was he a old world master but a great friend. He, me and a welder friend chopped it in about 6 hours plus another week to finish all the details. He's missed by many of us in So Cal. Flop seems to have mad skills and I'm looking forward to the completion of his chop.
DAM! This is starting to get very interesting....Off to get another R&C and some more pop corn...Keep them coming.
Doweling is a great touch....I like that little extra reinforcement and alinement......Now I need more pop corn.......keep this show rolling please....
Thanks guys . The wood from Brookville is fixed together with a biscuit joint like this . Not welded yet just fit Back window fit Not chopped as much as the rest of the car Roof split
WOW! Flop your fitment is out of this world....I think I could even weld this up and I am half blind. Nice work
Glad to see your leaving the A pillars the same angle, and stretching the roof in the center. Outstanding work, thank you for sharing.
Personally, I like them leaned back, but if we all liked the same thing, hot rodding would be pretty boring.
