Last year we decided to do a 34 3W drag car after we sold our 55 Chevy drag car. So the search began for a suitable body. After some searching we found some body side and door skins from Steve's and an old rusty 4 door. After gathering as many new and used parts we could about Christmas time I decided to start the body. After a few weeks of tin work it was time to start the chassis. We have a big inch SBC with a Lenco 4 speed trans and a Strange 9" fabricated rear end with a Chris Alston rear 4 link clip. We had it as a roller for our local car show in Feb. After the car show it was time to do the chop. We decided on a 3 1/2" chop with the A pillars leaned. We are now working on hood, grill and the small stuff before we get to putting the engine and trans mounts in. We hope to have it ready to go to paint some time in May. Thanks for looking

  7. You really should go into detail on the work you did on the logging ravaged body Gene. I had posted some of the progress shots I took here years ago (04?). Glad to see you got this on the road after all these years.

I only have a few pics of that car in the beginning and have already posted them. If you have more I would be interested in getting them.

    The complete chop.
    That profile is dead on!!!!

I need one of those rear window panels. Do you remember what that cost alone? A previous owner of one that I have hammered the rounded area flat.
If I was duping a Pierson Bros Coupe, then that wouldn't matter, but I basically finishing the car that I started in 1987 and your build got me wondering about that chop and rear window=Great Job Guys!!!

The back window area is from an old 4 door. The panel between the deck and rear window is from Steve's. I only gave $250 for the old 4 door and if I remember correctly I think we paid close to $400 for the panel above the deck.

  26. Carefull Gene, the metalwork fits here but an Alston clipped drag car is far from traditional, Mikes Chevy Bowtie jangle earring is enough of a flag to let folks know how he swings. ;)

A few more pics. I have taken it apart again to fit the engine and trans plates. After they are in I will start on seat mount, steering column and the brake and clutch assemblies. Then we will get the cage built.
