Did a little work on the Nomad yesterday. Added some suspension pieces and looking at ride heights. Also put the gold trim emblems from the previous photos and got the undercarriage painted but didnt get photos of that. Again hats off to you guys.. Simply amazing. One question or advice. I cant decide how I want to finish the model. Bone stock, vintage drag car of the 60's or gasser?

  4. Darrell great detail , I love Nomads. I vote for a vintage drag car. To nice for a gasser, and we don't do stock very often on here. lol Thanks for your post. I'll be watching. Also, since I'm replying to your Post, I would like to think everyone else for all their cool post also. Rustys diorama blew me away. I found my self going to other threads, but then coming back to stare at it. And each time finding something new. I won't mention everyone by name, because I wouldn't want to miss anyone. This is one of my favorite threads. There is so much talent HERE, that I feel bad posting mine. I don't have the patience it takes for the detail and quality of work I see on here. SO THANKS AGIN! Ron...

  5. I wanted a 1/18th scale 56 Nomad diecast model but they didn't make one. So I made this one from a 56 convertible and a 57 Nomad. Now I have a 56 Nomad and A 57 Elcamino. ha ha. Does anyone build models from diecast ? I know it may be harder but I like the 1/18 scale just say' en Ron... 033.jpg

  6. These are pretty old, (1/24th scale fiberglass bodied Willys gasser built with 00-90 nuts and bolts goes back to '65!) but some of my best. HO '33 gasser slot car and Mellow Yellow LSR slot cars built for old 70s Auto World mail in contests. AMT '42 Willys won local contest in the great Revell/Pactra national contest in '64. 1/16 scale Mongoose '57 Chevy funny car built from AMT Chevy kit and Revell Dragster kit. Haven't been building models as I should in recent years. Couple different stances for the Nomad.. I think the last one is the winner.

Question, where do y'all get chrome reverse rims for your builds?

Awesome plane & Edselchero!! I need to try the Alclad chrome..

Finally got the ride height where I want it and I also did a little compound and polishing on the body. And no those are not the wheels I will finish this build with. Stance shots were before compound & polishing. Thanks for looking and if you have comments fire away.

    Wow!!!That airplane is so cool!!!

I can't say enough nice things about "Alclad" -chrome. I just tried it for the first time this winter myself. Here's the horn ring&dash trim of my AMT '63 Galaxie. Sprayed gloss black enamel for base. Before: [IMG]
And after. I also did the set of polished-aluminum Offy valve covers and 5-spokes&steelies that come unplated in the AMT '62 Chevies.

This is my tip for ya. When you bare metal foil try to cut your foil on a line that is horizontal of vertical. I noticed around the windshield frame that you can see the underlying piece that you foiled over. hope this is helpful, you asked by the way.

Same here.. Im usually my worst critic.. Which Im sure most of us are that way.. I do not see my builds as in the same leagues as most here.. I just enjoy the hobby and like seeing the progression of the builds.. Plus I figure if this dumb ole redneck (a.k.a. me) can put together a model or full size car and is not ashamed of posting it for the world to see then anyone can.. ;)
