Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by NathanxStewart, Jan 4, 2016.

  1. I think your coupe would be very happy with a Y-Block! Haha thanks Mike.

  2. Hahah actually the roll bar goes right above the top of the seat and its behind my shoulders, I didn't shrink I swear!!

Those tank mounts are clever, very clever!
Cool details every where you look.
    Cheers,

  4. Here's what it looks like with the seat in, we also put some roll bar padding on it. It doesn't even hit my shoulders.

I knew someone would notice that. The reason that roll bar is so short is so he can't hit his head on it. He's not going to be driving around with a helmet on to protect him from that. This is a street car, not a racecar. We know it's not NHRA legal, but on the street, even the slightest bump from the rear can cause a head injury if the noggin hits that roll bar. This seemed like a good compromise. Trust me, we spent a lot of time mocking that thing up. The cage in this one is as much for stiffening up the body, and side impact protection as it is for rollover protection. I figure it will still add significant protection in a rollover.

I'm with you on this. I cringe when I see roll bars/cages being driven on the streets. The damage done by a closed head injury, after hitting a roll bar without a helmet, is probably worse than injury sustained by a car rolling on its roof. All of this is purely my opinion.
I was just giving you guys a hard time. If I only had something constructive to add, I'd never say anything!
    Cheers,
    Stewart.

  10. Chopped the windshield (3 inches), the bottom of it was rotted out so we combined the 30-31 windshield with we think a 28-29 model a sedan? It's more narrow than the 30-31. We had to add to the 28-29 to make it fit the 30-31.

This build is inspirational, both in the quality of workmanship and the cool ideas.
    Thankyou.

  15. Mocked up some gauges in the dash, these are just for mock up. I'm going to get a set of Holman moody gauges. I had the instrument panel and ring laser cut. I rounded the edges of the ring and polished it, took me about 5 hours to do that haha. I also veneered the instrument panel and stained it. Really happy with how this came out. Also we are unsure what the dash is out of. Definitely early 30's, if you know feel free to tell me!

Looks awesome! Really like the wiring chase idea, looks clean. One point though, I find you will get a more accurate temp reading from a yblock on the back of the head as opposed to the waterpump. Although i doubt you'll have a temp issue with an open engine. just sayin'

I really like this build. The one thing I see is that those front turn signals on the sides of the grille shell will be pretty much useless in most occasions other than maybe in the full dark.
