    Tony:
On the left and right sides of your photo, you can weld short pieces of pipe trimmed to fit, between the front and rear flanges of the housing.Just make sure to test fit them before welding to make sure they don't get in the way of the ring gear .
When the housing is in the car,the will be on the top and bottom of the housing, running from front to back. All they really need is a good solid tack to hold them in place if they are trimmed to fit nice and snug.
Mine's all assembled, but maybe I will mock up my spare housing as soon as I get a chance and shoot some pics for you.:)

Took all of 20 minutes to fabricate and tack in place....That doesn't seem unreasonable.
Takes longer to wash the car;)

The new laws are becoming active in June or July of this year, and don't permit modifications, including tire sizes, ride height/stance,performance modifications, etc.

It's another horseshit law that's incredibly vague,to allow a cop as much leeway in the wording as he does or doesn't need.
It's targeting lifted 4x4 trucks that are haphazardly done, cheesy little "tuner cars that keep bottoming out and/or slicing the sidewalks on the fender lip,or my biggest pet peeve:Building a complete piece of shit with poor workmanship and engineering, then trying to pass off you lack of intelligence and work ethic as a "rat rod".Ghey.

Trouble is,they have deemed cages unsafe because A) It can make it tougher for fire crews to extricate folks from the vehicle if there's a bunch of tubing in the way
And B) they fear that passengers will be injured by striking the cage during a collision.

I wish the government would stick to fucking up things that they've been fucking up for years, like infrastructure, and the environment, and foreign policy.
Stick with what you know,Government.....Just keep taxing me to death and cutting my pension year by year.
Leave the hot rods to me.Dicks.

As soon as my housing gets back from being narrowed will get started on mine. Is there a good starting point for the side shims? Will have a strange 35 spline spool.

If you have the original carrier take the shims off of it and start with them.

I started with the original shim packs...it was a decent baseline, but plan on pulling the bearings at least a couple times.

Original carrier is gone. May just buy an extra set of side bearings and hone then out

That is the easy way to do it trust me setting up a quickchange is even worse and the cost of the bearings is minimal compared to the ease of being able to just slide the bearing off to change your shims if you have inside micrometers and a big pair of outside micrometers you can measure and get a good close starting point but I know not everyone has the tools I do
