My dad bought his '58 Apache when I was ten years old and it was his mostly-daily driver and work truck until a few weeks before he died...

I towed it home shortly after and realized that Dad had started to pull it apart, wiring first, just before he passed. It patiently awaits getting back on the road, but only after a thorough going through. 60 years of working have left the old girl beaten, battered, and rusty.

image.jpeg Here's my first old truck. A 1960 F100 Lightweight Racing Truck. Oh wait, it's actually just really rusty and slow.

My Dad bought this 55 Cameo in 1987. I did an amateur restoration and then it was totaled in 1996. I've been slowly restoring it since. scan0012.jpg scan0013.jpg scan0015.jpg scan0022.jpg

this is the oldest picture I can find, must be from some time between Feb and August 1977. Dad bought the truck, we pulled the motor, and it took several months to get it back together. I still have the truck.

Do these count. My gentleman's pickup. Traded a 63 nova for it back in 74.

Evolution of the same truck over 30 years. There have been many others, but I still have my first truck.

Crap, I loved that thing. Drove it for the better part of ten years. Rebuilt everything with my own two hands. Unfortunately I was young and impressionable, and for about a month dived full into Za Zen. Meditation. Incense. Nothingness. Cute hippy chic. Decided to "release myself" from the material things I "loved" most, for the benefit of my "chi". Gave it to some kid from Canada, (amongst other things).

A week later, girl wasn't interested in me, I was done with Zen and kicking myself in the ass! Oh well, I never was a smart man....

  25. Definition of the best off road truck : The one the tow truck has to go the farthest to pullout. :D :D :D

I wish I had pics of my fist old truck, my first truck period actually. It was a jail bar, '47 and ugly as butt. Back then they were just old trucks.

My first truck was this 1941 Ford that I drove to work at Alvidos car wash in Goleta California in the summer of 1966 which had been a house painters rig and one day the owner decided to paint his pickup since he had product 289 in 40 004.JPG left over from a job........

    1972:
Found my '55 F100 at a friend's towing yard, a 'recovery'. Windows all broken out, dash smashed with a hammer, engine, trans, and wheels stolen. Sitting on the drums.
Made a quick deal, and it was mine...Had his driver tow it on dollies to my beach house in Aptos,
paid driver Tim 3 cases of Budweiser. (good deal!)
Ex wife screamed when she saw it, HATED it! She didn't have a soul...
Two years later, truck had a 350 Corvette (out of a Corvette) and I had NO ungrateful wife, she left.
I moved to San Jose, (had a great job) leased a house with 2-1/2 car garage, finished my truck.
1976, friend and I found a shop...my truck did the shop duties, hauling Hemis and flatheads and other necessities, all the time I had that shop.
My F100 is still running, Daily Driver!
I have boxes of new stuff for it, just waiting for weather to get nicer. Still enthused, wish I could post pics!
That's my Romeo Palemides front wheel in my avatar...that wheel run preceeded the first American Torq Thrust by a week. After the Tork Thrust was perfected, Romeo sold the company to 'American'...They never continued any of the F100 wheels like mine, only 20 (?) sets were made, by Romeo...
