Always liked the '57 Ford. My kid has one. Valley Head Service built a 292 for it. Balanced .030 over, mild cam. holley 650 and headers. Runs great. It was his high school car/project. He got it when he was 17. Still has it, but seldom drives it.
My dearly departed father would probably flip if he heard this (he owned a '57 Bel Air convertible when I was a wee lad), but I prefer the '57 Ford to the '57 Chev.
If you're going to pick nits, at least get it straight... LOL. Those are '55 poverty caps, the '56 version had white paint in the center. The '55 were red...
If I were trying to duplicate a an "F" code 57 Ford I would at least get the correct small caps, or put on a set of chrome steelies which would work to.
a little late...but yeah, imo the 57 ford is a rather ugly car. So is the 58 chevy. but that's just my opinion. And it wouldn't keep me from driving one.
I kind of thought that about the 57 chev. Had big tail fins and a bottom feeder grill that didn't appeal. Each to his own I guess.
Our man 007. The dash in this Chevy turned into the Ford dash during the ride from the airport! Sorry to contaminate the thread.
If we all liked the same thing, damn cookie cutter rods would be worse than they are. '57 Ford Sedan Delivery's are really sharp and hard to find.
Let me bitch slap that eastern bed wetter back to his communist mommies K-Car. Probably the mouth breather whose dad had one just like it but his was a Slant 8.
Love them as we never got them here in Oz as Ford Australia morphed the 55 into a 56, 57 and 58 by just retooling, tight arses did the same with Falcons. RHD US bodies went to NZ and didn't come here.
I've always wanted to see a 57 with 4 headlights and stock grill. Or a 57 grill on a '58 with no hood scoop.
This was my 57 Ranchero years ago ... Bad ass and under rated cars if you ask me .. Anyone that calls them ugly can't be trusted !
'57 Fords IMO have never gotten the attention they deserve.... Long low flowing lines and just a natural beauty. Even the four door hardtops are awesome.... I would love to own one some day.
This was my buddy Johnny Miller's 57 Ford Fairlane 500. He bought it for $550 dollars in his junior year of high school. He drove it for almost 15 years until the tin worms totally consumed it. Always loved 57 Fords. I've never laid eyes on an ugly one. 2 doors, 4 doors, wagons, convertibles, Ranchero's ......they all had major style.
How's a feller s'posed to get in the trunk with the spare in the way like that? That extended bumper deal looks like a dandy shin finder there, too. Definitely different. Didn't Ford poach a bunch of GM style designers and interior decorators at some point about that time?
Had a '57 Ranchero that I drove daily for most of the 1990's. I lived in California building movie sets so it was always hauling tools and wood. I wrenched on it every day off. I loved that car. I got bored w/ life and started reading books about Zen, meditating and letting my beard grow. Decided to "let go" of material possessions that were "weighting down my chi". I basically gave my Ranchero and my minty Rambler away. A month later came to my senses, dumped zen, shaved and kick myself in the ass to this day.
