If your heading South on I-25 and going through the Springs , take the Bijou exit and stop by the shop. We are only 5 blocks East of I-25 449 East Kiowa St. Have a safe trip. 0b9eae54-f61d-46df-8c9e-924b3e0628a3_jpg_635035882024278000.jpg

Looks like he is planning on cutting across on 550 from Cortez to Albuquerque. And then pretty much running pretty close to the same route I usually took a couple of years ago after getting off 40 at some point and going though Clovis and Lubbock.
John, watch for people walking, standing or laying in the road on 550 if you take it especially if you travel late in the day or at night.
Keep those photos coming we are enjoying the trip

  5. If your going through Albuquerque, stop at Santa Rosa . There is a great hot rod museum there called art 66 something. This is the sign out front . Part of the old art.66.

My wife and I stopped at that same museum last year on our way home to Austin. The owners were great, very nice people!

I got to start the day in beautiful Moab with a nice mile hike through the park.

In this case a picture is NOT worth a thousand words its more the opposite you have to see these rock formations with your own eyes a photo can not capture the beauty here.

I can see why John refers to the Acme van as the,"Happy van" people are drawn to this van they run up to take pictures everyday. It just puts this instant grin on their faces young and old they just stop and smile at you ,wave and or honk as they pass by. You can really never be in a hurry there's always that guy or gal that has questions. It's awesome to watch the happy van do its magic!

And of course Mr. Bill is always along for the ride.....

    Acme scavenger hunt location #2

We left a treasure at Mitchell's windmill supply/The Mill coffee shop and boutique in Fort Sumner, New Mexico. Stop by and ask for Carrie Norman.

Carrie and her husband run the local windmill supply and repair. They also have a really cool boutique and espresso bar next door. Carrie was really great and volunteered to hold the "goods" until someone stops by to claim it.

It may be too far out of your way on the return trip home, but whether on your return trip or bucket list, Bryce canyon is a sight to behold, and there are some really cool cabins nearby in Tropic Utah

    Do a web search on

While there, carrie saw Dawn's Acme/Trophy Queen wallet and she had to get one of those. Some people just get it.

  18. Great pics and always fun to follow your road trip. I love that drive from Spanish Fork UT where it intersects I-15 to Price UT. It is on my way going to Bonneville. From Price to Moab is kind of boring, until you get near Moab and then it gets very scenic.

Arches National Park is really incredible. Stopped by there in 2014 after Bonneville Speedweek was cancelled. Here's my obligatory pic of old car with Arches scenery in the background.

Enjoy your trip and have fun at LSRU, I am missing it again this year.

More random stuff spotted today. We drove about 480 miles, saw a lot of stuff and bought some stuff too. Amazing what you can cram into one single day if you just keep moving.

Tomorrow morning we will roll into Travis County Expo Center. Let the games begin.

Man, things went from REAL pretty to REAL ugly REAL fast ....:
Lol ..... Words with John so to describe leaving Moad and traveling into New Mexico ..... Me, I described New Mexico as ," Very Beige" lol
we decided on into the top corner of Colorado though there were definite shades of grey coming in which then we appropriately labeled as ," Greige"!! Even so it was a beautiful back drop for an extraordinary sunset deep in the Indian country
