Any updates?

 

Just a small one. The H&H flatty showed up. French block decked out in new Navarro garb with a pair of 97's on top. I blew the truck apart Thursday and got the T5 bolted up to the new engine and installed in the chassis. Now I'll get the clutch linkage and brake lines done, fuel line, and exhaust. We're going un-muffled on this one and the pipes will go all the way out back. We bought a pair of cheap headers from Speedway but the driver's side won't work with the Vega steering box and oil dipstick, so I'll remake that one.

BTT any new updates?

 

Built a new drivers side header and all of the exhaust. Clutch linkage and pedal arm fitment done. The cab is back on and throttle linkage done. E-brake cables run. Steering linkage done. Firewall smoothed. Modified the stock plug wire looms to work with the new style distributor. Bed is back on and tailgate supports have been sorted. Brake and fuel lines done. Switched to a mechanical fuel pump. Radiator hoses fit. Battery tray made to sink the battery into the floor under the seat. Numerous other loose ends wrapped up. Started on final metal work, got the passenger door gapped. We finally got our new door skin for the driver's door but it'll have to wait. Back on the Showtime '55 this week and pretty much until it's a running driving car to send off for interior.

 

This really is a neat pick-up to watch coming together. I love the '35-'38 trucks just as much as I do the '32-'34s but rarely do you see them built right. In my opinion, this is a pretty solid example of one being built right.

 

this is a real nice build any more up dates ?

 

We finished the metal work, set gaps, etc. had the truck fully assembled and signed off on, then blew it apart for paint.




It's been back from paint for a few weeks and reassembly will start this week.

Just curious how you attached the top hood pieces, when not using the side panels?

 

could you tell me what the front sway bar is off thanks

 

I used dzus style fasteners attached to the body and grill shell with the receivers attached to the hood tops. I'll post some pictures when I get the hood back on.

Its a chassis engineering kit.

Officially started assembly. Did a quick mock up of the suspension last week to get it on the ground for the Roundup weekend.

Hey Root, on page 3, post #66 there are some detailed shots of the latches.

The truck is mostly all together now! It's fully wired and we got her running and driving this week. All it lacks is glass, then it's off to upholstery. The bed wood is still being finished by the trucks owner and should be ready just after upholstery. The wood, stainless strips, and tailgate should weigh the back down a little bit more to refine the stance.
