I am looking for a set of chrome hairpins that are 32" long (without the clevis and tierod end hardware) to replace a set that is on the roadster now. I've looked all over and I'm having no luck with that particular length. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
Hey, Nailhead! If you can't locate them contact Ron Pope at RPM 865-932-7541. He can make them any length and style you need. You'll have to get them chromed, but at least you'll have them. Tell him Fred sent ya. Oh....... front or rear?
Those aren't "hair pin" style. He may be thinking or looking for the "Curtis style hair pins". Popular on early sprint cars. Like these: http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Curtis-Style-Radius-Rods-36-Inch-Chrome-Steel,32001.html
Which opens another can of worms......Speedway shows three styles...."total performance style", "curtis-style" and "hairpin style" (which 91645111 looks like). So what is true "hairpin" style; curtis with round end or those with tapered ends? I don't know.
That's what I always thought until Speedway confused me. But I am getting older and more easily confused.
I think you will find that most of them have the thread tapped a long way in on the clevis ends so you can shorten them a bit..
