This was on my dodge 383 when I bought it. Inline between the coil and coil wire. Does it serve a purpose?
    Thanks guys

Looks like one of those "Medicine Show" coil boosters to me. Supposed to make the spark stronger.

  4. As a kid at the state fair they would demo those things and pitch more performance and save gas.

I dunno what it is either, but put it on and use it just to make everyone else who sees it scratch their head too.

one of them coil booster things, haven't seen one for a long time, these days you can get magnets to go around your fuel line that will solve all you problems.

Would make sense on the dizzy cap. It was on the coil side. I took it off and didn't notice a difference.

I found an old evil bay auction with one similar, but not as cool looking as this. I just don't see how it helps boost spark. Maybe like how a condenser works?!

Thank u for the info. I'm looking at different spark masters now online trying to see if they actually worked but no info. Guess this one will have to go into the glass case of wonder.
    Snake oil... Haha

  29. Don't use it. It's a scam! I used to have one of those on my ride. The guy at the auto parts store said it would increase my gas mileage by 15%. Then I added headers. That increased my mileage by 20%. A special mileage camshaft saved me another 25%. A gas saver carburetor increased my mileage by 25%. Adding dual exhaust saved another 20%.
Every few miles I would have to stop and let off the extra fuel. What a pain in the ass!

    Sell it to Larry.

On a similar note, anyone ever try the old trick of holding a plug wire off the plug a bit to fire a fouled plug? I have and thought it worked. Perhaps at the expense of coil life.
