Hi Michael! Great to see you and Em still together. Congrats Em! Cool truck, cool project. Michael, here is your truck build thread: And here is your hotrod build thread, which I somehow missed:
, Michael- Yes we are still having a great life together and mow teaching her to build old cars, thank you for tagging my build threads!
Looks like you're off to a great start. I built this one in 11 months from the frame up and love every second of it.
Subscribed and looking forward to following your build. I have a '55 1st Series (Green one in the pic) and it's been to Kansas. It was stock when I drove it to a truck show in Hutchinson and back in 2008. I think the '55 2nd Series and '56 are the nicest of the Task Force trucks like many of the others who have posted. The blue '55 2nd Series in the pic has a souped up 283 in it. The other blue truck is a stock '54 I currently have my truck torn apart for rebuilding and it won't be stock anymore when it goes back together. I'm a geezer and I move slow. You will be done before I am.
Hi, im Ray. I just picked up a 1957 stakebed from North Carolina and trailered it back to Texas. This my first old truck and I love it already. I had a 55 Buick and still own a 54 chevy 210 that's for sale. I'm now the 4th owner of the 57, truck has 40k original miles. Was on 2 different farms in Georgia and then the guy I got it from just maintained it and drove around town. It's a 3600 3/4 ton with 235 engine and 4 on the floor. I love the foot pedal starter. I'm a aircraft mechanic and it reminds me of the cessna planes with all the knobs to fire it up on cold day "key on, choke, throttle lever, clutch, neutral, foot starter" makes me smile everytime. I plan on lowering 3in maybe and change out rear pumpkin with 67 to 72 4.10 gears. Truck has 4.57 gears now. I get 60 mph at 3000 rpm and 10.5 mpg. The bed has all original boards except for one and the fence I guess you call it panels are all original. Truck rides really good. I was surprised that the truck didn't rattle while hitting bumpy roads. Truck has few rust spots but nothing to bad. I'm going to leave all original and the patina as well. I love the look of it and it shows the life it's lived. Also in these pics there's alot of lights going on on the back. I just picked up truck last Friday so I'll be removing all but the round ones. This year truck only had one round stop in back and running light. In Houston you will get ran over if don't have some light back there. Other than that I'm going to just drive her the way she is. Oh and I need a bench seat. These van buckets ride good but just throw everything off. Bad choice for the truck by previous owner.
Looking good Make sure you check that brake hose that it wont be rubbing when turning and going up and down.
I like the new Handle, it's nice to see a lady that into the car/truck building, put a new light on the meaning of hot rodding. Here my little 1957 Chevy, guess I should say big instead of little for mine is the full 8 foot long box. This truck came from Montana off my uncle cattle ranch, it was his ranch truck for years and then he retired it and I bought it, we cut the frame at the firewall and added a late model (80's) front suspension and rear end, 307, 4 speed, just a little daily driver. It's winter so I took my 15x7 S200 off so they weren't in the snow. I have a few pic's so I will post them.
I have a bench seat but needs reupholstered and I love both of those trucks!! And I'll make sure to check that out!
Hell yea, looks like a nice truck, should be an "easy" one if there is such a thing. My wife helped me a ton building my truck, made lots of good memories... Anyway, great to see the two of you having so much in common, those are signs of a good, longlasting relationship...have fun and keep the pics coming... Is there a link to the ford build or did it get lost?
Not yet.. Got a different second job so I've been pretty busy trying to figure out my schedule! As soon as more money comes in I'll be doing more
