Running 2- 500cfm two barrel carbs. Wish we could run infesters but they just wont let us. But we can run alky. Thanks for the good word old28
Talked with Scott from the northwest group last night and he said they are planning to bring as many as five cars down to Eagle field this year.
Thanks guys for your comments. I'm heading to the engine builders now so we can put the rest of the engine together and then to the dyno. Were shooting for 4-29 as our first race date but the way this build has went who knows.
Finally after everything going wrong from no parts to wrong parts to UPS losing our parts, Hell we even broke the Dyno we finally got the car together and running. Friday night will be it's maiden voyage at Tulsa. Made a few passes down the driveway today to check it out it ran strong.
Made it to the track Friday evening for our first SDRA race unloaded the car and warmed the engine. Ready for first time down the track and then the RAIN came. Oh! well That racing.
Up date for you guys. Well I never thought that we could build a car that was too light and had way to much horsepower but we did. Car blows the tires off at hit of throttle and in high gear all the way down the track. So back to the drawing board. We knew we would have new car blues so we will work thru it. First thing is to go to taller gear and mabe add a little weight and on and on.
Sounds great. You built the car for fun. Just do like they did in the old days and run full length smoker passes.
One of the things we did shortly after this was to re-mount the drive train considerably higher in the front, pivoting it all up around the rear axle centerline. Helped a lot with getting the weight back onto the footprint under acceleration. Eventually we also lifted the nose of the car (via a spring mounts relocation) for another couple inches. That also was a noticeable improvement, though less than the drive train. Center of mass in positional relation to footprint's still the name of the game.
A little taller tire, Some gear changes & weight transfer will have her were you want her. Keep her lean & mean for speed. Great looking ride.
Thanks for all the suggestions from everybody. We are working on some of them now, gear change tomorrow looking at some wider and taller tires. We built a weight bar for the back but that will be used as the last resort got to keep it lean. Liked your video old6, our car smokes the tires just like yours except it just keeps doing it even in high gear. Your right about the tires Randy they need a lot of help. I bet out of the 8inches tread with we don't get 4inches to the track and they are recaps so I'm kinda afraid to put anything on them. It the tire all the SDRA guys run. Sure got to get it fixed before we come to Eagle field
Mr Mac radir slicks in 10" is what you need. It's a new tire with very usable durometer. They also have them in 8" as well. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
