Have great trip Jim. Had a job programming and operating material handling and welding robotic equipment in the early 90's. It was a blast.

Can you post a general route so we can be prepared to help, or at least wave as you roar by?

yes indeed! Competition is Friday - Sunday, public is invited, it's free.

I'm half way across Texas, stopped for the night. Plan to go through Memphis, Nashville, Knoxville, the Virginia hills, into Pennsylvania, and east into the city.

So far the old suburban is running pretty good. I had to add a quart of oil (the motor has over 200k miles on it), and it idles a little rough, probably related to the 200k miles, or the elevation change. I've even been running the AC, so I can keep the windows closed, and the noise down a bit. Even so, it's pretty darn loud in there at 75.

The ammeter is supposed to be like that...I think the needle is bent.

Looks like some rigs are waiting for oil prices to go back up.

They let you drive fast in Texas. I only go 75.

Welcome to Texas. Stay a couple days, it'll take you that long to drive through!

I did a turn and burn from Nashville to Phoenix and back within a 3 day period. Everything is 300 miles from everything and I dislike Arkansas immensely...tell NYC I said hello and wave when you pass Nashville...safe travels!

    Have a safe trip Jim.
Have you ever come across the robotics team from Carl Hayden High School in Phoenix?
They made a movie about them last year called Spare Parts, quite an inspiring story.

thanks! Yeah, if you watch the credits for the movie, you'll see my name...I have three of the robots from it sitting in my living room! I've known Fredi and Alan for a decade. My son mentors the Carl Hayden Falcons robotics team, for the past 5 years.

It's soggy out, thunderstorm rolling through. What fun. It's heading north, I'm heading east.

Good for You! Hope you have a Great Time!
Interesting choice in Road Vehicle. I commute regularly from Boston to Daytona in my '97 Astro Shop Truck, and that's a harsh ride! Hopefully you'll have smooth roads until you hit the Northeast.
