Hot Rods Let's have our own 84th anniversary event for the 40 ford...

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Moriarity, Feb 10, 2015.

  1. This is an original car.
The people who own it bought from the first owner just after they were married in the mid fifties.
The husband says he bought a dual carb. intake for the flathead but never installed it.However he doesn't know what happened to the intake.
"A couple of moves plus sixty years and things tend to get lost" is what he told me when I asked him about the intake.
The car is about 15 or 20 miles away from me.
I forgot that I had the memory card these photos were on.

Interesting car. It's chopped (nicely, too) and channeled, with the running boards removed and the front fenders raised. If it had a hood, it was pretty severely sectioned. I don't know if I've ever seen other pictures of the car, but I'd like to.

That's what they used during the harsh Midwest winters to deliver Mail. My friend has a '34 fordor done up the same way. It has a "T" truck rear axle turned upside down for clearance.

  10. That's liable to start a new "RR" trend! The offspring of monster trucks and cheezy rats.

Very nice tudor! What wire wheels are on it? I've been thinking of getting some made for mine. It'll have to wait as they are big money.

  16. I have had that magazine photo of Sonnen's coupe hanging on my locker door through Jr High, High School, on the bulletin board through college, and in most cubicles that I have worked from. It currently hangs on my "home" office door at the house, along side some church doodling from when my younger daughter was in elementary school. Sonnen-cutout.jpg

  29. This one was pretty neat. It's a channelled 36 roadster with 40 fenders. The rears are two 40 fenders per side leaded together. I talked with the owner, his dad built it in 1948. A survivor.

    It's half a 40 so I thought it'd be ok posting.
